Once again, nice find, BJ. Great article. System won't let me give you rep points yet.

OBEX would be VERY nice. In the meantime, my trans flash memory card works like champ for wallpapers and ringtones.

Rats! I still can't give BJ Rep points! I'll keep trying, though!

Hey, BJ - Have you successfully entered the "Twilight Zone" on the V710 yet? The "Menu + 0 + 73887 + *" got me nowhere - at least nowhere I wanted to be.

Has anyone had any success trying the modifications from the hack site? I e-mailed the author and got no response. I'd be very interested in increasing the earpiece volume.

I haven't had any luck getting to the "behind-the-scenes-screens" yet, either.

Anybody?

OK, I got in.

The secret: Speed. You have to type in the commands fast and without pausing.

I have successfully entered into the Op Code screen (MENU+048263*) and the Setup screen (MENU+0+SETUP [73887]+*). I haven't successfully gone into the Test Mode screens (MENU+00**TESTMODE [83786633]*) on my V710, but I made it there with my V60.

Verrrry Interesting. But, spooky ...

Case for V710

OK, I know this is a minor deal but... has anyone else bought the leather case for the V710 from Verizon? The belt-clip has zero room to actually accomodate a belt. It's worthless. I wondered why there was no case for sale on the Motorola website - Verizon must have contracted with some one to make it - and poorly!

I had no interest in doing this - the earpiece volume is just fine, if not a little too loud.

So, no, I haven't adjusted the earpiece volume.

njsesq - you may want to post this under a new thread. This doesn't have much to do with modifying the V710 internal functionality.

I bought the Verizon leather case for my v710. Like you, I am not pleased with it, but not for the same reason you aren't. I actually find that it fits on my belt fine, but that it extends up too high above the top of my belt, causing the top of it to dig into my gut when I sit down, or bend over. This is a)uncomfortable, and b)often causes the phone to be released out of the clip. I am anxiously waiting for other case options.

And on that note, I wrote Motorola some time ago, asking them about this. Their response was that they --would-- be producing a leather case for the v710. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what else becomes available.

Does the clip actually fit around your belt? There's no room for anything thicker than a sheet of paper to fit in the one I have.
