I have an 06 TL with Nav. The Nav no longer works (Disc read error) so I cant access the screen. Alpine now wants $750 to fix these units. Not worth it since I use my phone for nav anyways. XM and all audio features, besides the EQ, sigh.., are working normally through physical buttons.

I'm looking to get the USA SPEC BT45-HON3 for BT audio & AUX. Can anyone confirm if I'll be able to set it up and use it ok without the Nav screen being functional?

I've been using the USA SPEC BT45 in my TL after my nav failed. You'll be able to control volume and previous / next song by using the physical buttons on radio & steering wheel. The song info (artist, album, song name) is displayed on that tiny upper screen on our TLs.

The USA SPEC installs directly into the XM tuner in trunk and is accessed by hitting the XM button on factory head unit.

Awesome, thanks. Did you install after the nav failed or before? Any reason it might be a problem for setup, rather than ongoing use?

 

My NAV failed long before installing the USA SPEC. No problems except that the provided mic need to connect to the USA SPEC module in trunk and route the wire to the front of the car.
If your able to pair your phone with the car's HFL then their provided mic won't be needed.
