Unexpected side effect of getting Valentine One wired through headliner..
I took my car into Circuit City to have my Valentine One wired in, and whatever they did fixed a whole bunch of headliner squeaking.. Not clear for how long though...

For those in Long Island/Queens,NY...I went to the Circuit City in the Source Mall to get my Valentine1 installed. The guy was so hesitant to work on my car because it was new...I ended up not doing it.
He said, "I would do it, if you want me to...but I would prefer not to, before I worked on another TL." If anyone in NY has any other place they know that have done it before, I'd like to know...thanks!

I stand by the Valentine1. But I've never used the Escort 8500 so I can't compare. I hear the Escort 8500x50 (the newest one) is pretty good.
Car and Driver picked Valentine1 as the best the last time they tested (but there are other tests that say the Escort is the most sensitive)...so take that with a grain of salt.
The only clear "advantage" for me is the directional arrows on the Valentine1. One major disadvantage of the Valentine1, is the price it is about a $100-$150 more expensive. I don't think you can go wrong w/ either detector, but my personal preference is the Valentine.

Sounds like we need a Chilton's or Haynes service manual to detach/reattach the headliner. Will no doubt have to wait awhile for it. In the meantime, I wired my V1 using the passenger visor and running the cord to the right side of the visor, then over to the passenger grab handle (you can pull on the handle, insert the power cord, and release to hold it there). Come down behind the passenger seat and up into the console power plug (from behind). Use the passenger seat headrest to tuck in any loose cord. Not as good as a hardwire, but at least you don't have the telltale power cord hanging down or the suction cups on the windshield.

Dettach is easy it just falls off all by itself.
Now reattach is tricky. Not even the dealers can do that right.
