Question Tweeter component wiring???

Hey guys I'm installing the Polk audio components in my 06 tl and I'm stuck...

How can I pass the tweeter wire to the crossover box located in the door panel? Btw from the stock tweeter location.

Thanks

Mods...can we move this to the Audio section

Ramos...that depends on where you're going to put the x-over. Running the wire from the amp to the x-over is simple, x-over to tweeter is simple as you'd just run it up through the dash (just use a metal hanger that you've straightened or something like that). To go from the x-over to the mid in the door you're going to need to make a hole in the factory molex plug (the big black plug in the door that passes all the electrical into the door). If you use the search function, there are a few cases where people have pics of this and will explain where to make the hole, how they did it, etc.

Okay I'll look around for it.. But I place the crossover box right next to the door woofer on that thing that opens up and made a whole there to pass the input and woofer wire.

Also I'm not connecting it to an amp

Thanks for ur help.

So you're going to run aftermarket components on our stock amp? Bad idea...

You're taking out an efficient 2ohm speaker and replacing it with a less efficient 4ohm speaker. You "should" have quite a bit of volume go away & anything past volume 30 is just introducing distortion

Why don't you want to do an amp?? I'm sure you could find one for cheap locally on Craiglist..

I'll wait until some of the other regulars want to chime in with their 2 cents, but you're going to need the Fosgate BLD or some way to make the balanced/differential stock signal unbalanced. You'll have a lot of noise in the tweeters if you don't

Depends on your budget too. Might be cheaper to sell your sub amp and pick up a 4 (bridge 2 for sub) or 5 channel and just have 1 amp.

I would be careful about mounting the crossovers in the door panel to make sure they are isolated from moisture. But yes, as Trunk Monkey said it should be super easy to just drop the wire down from the top of the dash. If you have trouble with it, fish tape
Amazon Amazon
works really good. You can get one pretty cheap from Home Depot or Lowes.

Ok got it I get what your saying I do have some noise from the tweeters cuz I installed one side to see how it sounds.

Idk if you remember but I was running wit some pioneers at the front...so I put the components on 1 side and left the other pioneer in their, I defenitly hear the difference my right side sounds much better.

I was going to run wires from my amp in the trunk to the stock amp location to feed the factory wires. Is there anything wrong with using factory wires that already go through the door? I was going to put my crossover in the dash and feed it with stock wires.

I can't conclusively answer this question, but I'm sure the stock wire gauge isn't very good. You might be fine with a low powered setup, but again...that's out of my realm
