Trying out V600 firmware 72R
Trying out V600 firmware 72R
Okay, I got bored with my perfectly good, bugfree V600 firmware version 4F. I flashed 72R tonight and I'll try it out tomorrow on my drive into work. I'll let you know how it goes.
Anyone else tried 72R yet?

So far it is just the same as 4F. But, I have noticed a <slight> improvement in menu speed.
- slight improvement in menu speed
- bug still exists: With the phone connected to HFL, making a call from the handset and closing the clamshell to hang up doesn't hang up the phone. You have to either hit the hang up button on the phone or on the steering whell.
I'll keep updating the list as the week goes on...

Okay, I'm extremely excited about this
: The battery life seems to be much better with 72R. After updating to 72R, I charged it on Sunday night and it hasn't died yet. With 4FR and Bluetooth powered on, I would have to charge the phone every night or it would be 1 or 2 bars down in the morning and would be dead by lunchtime. Note that I never turn my Bluetooth off.
The summary, as compared to version 4FR:
- battery life is much improved with Bluetooth powered on
- slight improvement in menu speed

Not a bug

TRK9: It seems like a bug in my book. If it is connected to HFL, but I use the handset to make a call (not the HFL to make the call), when I close the clamshell it should hang up. Otherwise the call is left in limbo.
I understand that if I have the clamshell open while talking on the HFL, it shouldn't hang up when I close the clamshell. But this is a call placed via the handset.

Hey guys,
After using 72R for the last week, I am ready to recommend this firmware to anyone who has a V600 + HFL. Compared to 4FR, the menu speed is slightly faster but the big kicker is improved battery life while leaving Bluetooth powered on. With 72R, I get 3+ days out of a charge now. With 4FR, 1.5 days was stretching it.
Would anyone be willing to try 72R so that we can confirm that battery life really has improved? (And not just for my single testcase)

topprospect - I just got a v600 yesterday, and it has old t-mobile software. I am looking to get a data cable soon. Maybe at that time you can give me a hand helping me find the proper files, and give me some direction on what I need to do?

I'm pretty new to all the cell phone modding so I'm sorry if this is a silly question. I have an AT&T/Cingular branded V600 that I had unlocked. If I update the firmware will it re-lock my phone?
Thanks
Thanks
Yea.. I'm trying to figure it all out. Been going to through www.howardforums. any pointers would be great!
I didn't have any luck with Motorola PST 6.7. Here's a link for 7.2.3, patch included...don't forget to get P2K Tools V0179. Extract to same Folder, run both patch and P2K tools

This is what I did pull from the back of my phone under the battery...
V600 (g 8.5/9/18/19)
SW:08.09.2FR
Sorry for the delayed responses, but I've been out of town.
xcb5,
I you truly do have 0B.09.2FR as your sticker says, that's pretty old. You should see a vast improvement going to at least 0B.09.4FR.
Also, it looks like Cingular has disabled #9999# and the "S/W version" from your "Other Information" menu. You can reenable these features very easily using SEEM editing. This site is THE source for seem editing info: http://xlr8.us/hofo/ Once you read through that, go to the SEEM map located on that site. Look at seem 0032_0001, offset 00, bit 7. Also look at offset 37 (hex), bit 1.
SparkAF,
So did you get past your service pack problems with PST? Were you able to update your flash?

So I've been using 0B.09.72R for about 2 weeks now and I haven't gotten the "Bluetooth Signal Low" message even once.
I don't know if anyone else got this, but it is/was quite annoying. I'll just be talking along over HFL and suddenly the sound drops. I know that HFL doesn't disconnect, because the radio volume hasn't come back up. So I look down at the V600 and the outer display says "Bluetooth Signal Low". If I open up the clamshell, I can continue my talking to the other party over the handset. A few (maybe 10) seconds later, the call switches back to the HFL. If I realize that this is happening quickly enough, the other person doesn't notice that anything has happened.
Anyway, the point is, I've had this problem with all versions of the phone up through and including 0B.09.4FR. I haven't seen this with 0B.09.72R...YET. I'll keep you updated.

Hey topprospect,
You had told me that you are using the V620 Flex. Could you send me that as well?
What are the differences in that flex? Does it work well?
Would the Flex file have anything to do with Bluetooth performance?

This link on Howard Forums discusses the flex, how to download the flex, and the problems/successes that people have had with it.

I really like this V620 flex. It is unbranded, so I don't have any T-Mobile crap anymore. It seems a bit faster than the stock flex and it has just about all the bells and whistles turned on. There are a few very cool built-in ringers and themes.
To my knowledge, Bluetooth performance is not affected at all by the flex. I didn't notice any, but then again I had my V600 for about 1 week before I flashed and flexed it
.
A word of caution: You cannot get back to your stock flex if you re-flex your phone. There's no way to backup first! ALSO, this particular flex is not "ready to go" when you first put it on. I spent a few hours SEEM editing before I got the phone back in a usable state. It was well worth the time, but I wouldn't recommend this flex if you don't have nerves of steel and/or aren't willing to read all 33 pages of the above thread on Howard Forums.

Hmm.. I don't know if you can download "ring lights" from your provider like you can ringers. I've never heard of that. You can definitely hack different light patterns and colors if you mess with the file funlight.pat or something like that. Search motorola.howardforums.com for "funlight"
