Treo 650 - 1st call Pairing Issues

I have briefly seen this problem mentioned here and in other forums but never heard of a good explanation or fix for it. When I get into my TL (2004) with my Treo 650 (Verizon), the phone and car pair up every time. However when I make a call from the Treo, it seems as if the Acura wants to connect and have the audio go through the car's speakers but instead, the audio is only through the Treo. So, I have to call either voice mail or a phone # where I know nobody will answer for the first call in the car and then hang up. Afterwards, for every other call, the audio goes through the car's speakers.
Also, if I try calling through the Acura (ie. dial a number from the Acura phone book) as the first call when I get in the car, the Treo resets itself. If I dial a number through the Treo first and hang up, I can call through the Acura without a problem.
It seems as if the pairing of the Acura and the Treo isn't really completed until a call is made from the Treo first.
Any ideas??

My wife's Verizon 650 works fine pretty much every time...sounds like we're lucky. I wonder if some common third-party app is causing this first-call problem, 'cause you're not the only who's experienced it, but not everyone has...weird...frustrating.

Apparently, that update is only for Sprint and GSM phones.

I know the problem is with the TREO because I have other phones paired with the car (Sprint's bluetooth LG and a Cingular bluetooth moto). Also, it seems like the brief time while i am waiting for the call to go thru, i get feedback noise so strong I am afraid of blowing a speaker.
Am I alone here?

Just found this on the Palm site:
"If you have paired your Treo 650 with the Acura (or Honda) car kit (called HandsFreeLink TM), the first outgoing call dialed on your handset immediately after pairing may not be transferred to the car kit. If this happens, try dialing the call from the car kit. Alternatively, try an incoming call by having someone call your number. Now, you must hear the call in the car. Try dialing again on your Treo 650."
A bug or a feature... you decide!

Would you mind sharing the version number for the bluetooth manager with us as well as what update you applied?

what pairing issues and sound quality issues are you talking about?
at the start of each call (dailing out) there is this ANNOYING whine, while it connects. I wish that Palm put bluetooth 1.2 instead of 1.1 in it, theoretically it would connect faster and reduce the screetching sound from the speakers. As far as sound quality, i personally think it's amazing, calls come through clear, and people on the otherside have no idea i'm talking on a hands fee kit.
question, where are you placing the phone?
suggestion - Hot-sync your phone entirely to your computer so you have a back-up, then hard reset the phone. the update should still be in effect, if you're using sprint it's 1.12. pair your phone again (making sure it's discoverable) and try it again... it might be a third party app that's messing with you bluetooth. A lot of third party programs were @^!%@ up my treo, random restarts, pairing issues, wierd stuff.
hopefully everything will work and you can start adding programs back into your palm.
Verizon update
Palmone has released a ROM update for the Verizon Treo 650: http://www.palm.com/us/support/downl...r/verizon.html. I am hesitant to try it myself when it works fine now (albeit without battery and signal strength) while many, if not most, Verizon owners complain of the first dropped call issue. But if you're having problems, might be worth a try. Involves a hard reset.
i have the cingular 650 and I have many problems with it. First, i purchased 1GB memory card for mp3'z and when i insert them, it sometimes resets itself. Secondy, when i a get a call.. it'll reset itself once i pick it up.. last, when im putting music onto my SD through the usb cable.. and i play it on the mp3 player on the 650. the music scrambles and sounds all messed up and then the phone resets itself again!!! this didnt happen before I bought the SD.. Do you think the SD is causing it? **NO bluetooth problems**

- Latest version of Wireless Sync email application software
- Internal settings modification to allow correct access to Verizon Wireless roaming partner networks
Nothing about addressing potential Bluetooth issues
In my '04 with a Sprint Treo650, the first call initiated from the handset *never* goes through the HFL. I have to hit the talk button on the steering wheel and say "transfer", then it picks up the call. Every call after this goes right to the HFL. As far as initiating dialing from the HFL, if I do this, it will begin to dial and reset my Treo everytime. Oddly enough, when I first paired the phone up with the system, I did initiate a couple of calls from the HFL with no problems, but ever since then it resets when I try. I have unpaired and repaired the phone a number of times, with the same results every time. These behaviors happened before and after the 1.12 update. The only difference in behavior that I have seen after the 1.12 update is that I now see the signal strength indicator on the MID also (caller ID always worked).

For example, at Treocentral people are reporting the "add to contacts?" prompt is now gone after the update, but that's not one of the issues listed. I'm simply suggesting that if nothing else works, it might be worth trying...after you assess the risks.
I have no idea what a BMW B60 is.

right on top of the holder (closing the cover for the drink holders) or inside the storage compartment with the CLA cable fished up thru. -- side note, it seems like it's notched exactly for that purpose.

- pairing is fine
- receiving calls is fine
but once i make a call either using my T650 or HFL, it all goes into disaster. just like batmacura mentioned it's the Treo that's the problem. i've had the siemens S650, the cheapest, crappiest phone i've ever owned (aside from the nokia 5190) and it worked perfect - battery and signal meter. also had an unlocked Nokia 6260, japanese version and it worked without an issue.
now this Treo, the most expensive phone i ever paid for, which comes with the most basic abilities and incompatibility issues with a $35K car - hilarious i tell ya

1. Was you phone doing a soft reboot when trying to make an outgoing call?
2. Signal strength and battery do NOT show up in the display?
3. Loud screaching sound for 2-4 seconds at the beginning of a call (when connecting)?
4. What version of the palm do you currently run - 1.3 or 1.4 for Verizon?
Did the upgrade solve any or all of these problems? I just got eveything set up on my phone and would hate to go through redoing everything for it not to make a difference.
Any help/information would be very much appreciated!!!!
