Yes, you can turn the start button light off in the options through the keypad... very easy to do.

Keypad is an interesting piece. It seems to have limited usefulness. People who have Ford's love to lock their keys in the car when they don't have or want them in their pocket. I.e. taking the dog on a run, going to the gym, etc. I assume you can't lock your key in the car here as it would be in proximity and keep the doors unlocked.

Can this unit be set to only unlock the drivers door when in proximity or does it open all doors?

From reading multiple posts, it does not affect your stock key and key fob. You could operate the vehicle traditionally. The kit has a cap that covers your stock ignition. Pop it off, grab your old key and go. That assumes you don't mount the button over the ignition.

My problem is, I have a Whistler Pro 3450 radar to the left of the wheel where the button is shown. Not sure there is a good/ obvious flat surface to the right of the column to mount it.

for example you get in your car drive 200 miles away from home. come to the car and for some reason the ST800 isn't working. You don't have the car key on you..what do you do?

Call AAA. Some people are saying you have to cut a key and leave it in the ignition, you can use that.

Leave a light on and kill the car battery though and you are completely screwed and can't even get in the car.

Say you're 200 miles from home and blow two tires? What then? What if an elephant sits on your hood?

The ST800 failing is just about as likely as blowing two tires or, more realistically, just losing the keys somewhere.

There is an emergency mode where you type in your password on your keypad and your serial # and it will let you start/operate your car.

Yeah Im thinking about selling the Alarm... I heard from a Local Installer that the watts the alarm sends ranges from 4-24 and our car can only use 4 watts. Anymore than 4 it can Fry the electronics and wiring in the dash. So Im still Up in the air about this alarm. I love the Concept but if its gonna fuck my shit up I rather just put something else in

Im bringing this thread back as im very interested in adding a keyless access/push start system on my 07 TLS 6mt. I like the Alibaba system however what worries me is the horrible instructions that barely make sense. I guess it was all translated from a different language and didnt work out too well. The system seems perfect but some of the stuff I dont really want such as the alarm system or remote start. I mainly wanted just keyless access and push start, but I REALLY like their flat push button that requires no holes in your dash.
Here is another system which seems much easier to read and understand that does exactly what I want, but uses a Lexus push start button which would require putting a huge deep hole in the dash: http://www.advancedkeys.com/index.htm

A few questions...for guys with manuals do you still need to do the key in key cylinder and left in ACC mode to bypass the steering lock? I dont really want to have to put a key in my ignition and leave it there and in acc mode...which obviously means completely cutting the ACC wire which I dont want to do either.

Also, what modules are best to use for immobilizers and data integration? like a combo kit that does both in one. Do these also allow you to catch all the necessary wires right at the module as well such as door locks, tach, alarm etc etc?

I have experience doing alarms and remote starts but its been years since I have messed with that crap.

EDIT: After going downstarirs and checking it does not appear that my steering column locks on my 2007 6mt Type S. So does that mean I can eliminate a huge step by not having to leave a key in my igntition and in acc mode?

Thanks guys,
james

JTS, I have the st800 installed in my 04 tl (automatic) and it is a great alarm... once you get it installed (did it myself). It has a lot of cool, customizable features that have not been discussed here, probably cause you kinda have to play around with it, bc the instructions are not well translated (or not translated at all (weird Korean symbols or something lol)). Dowontec does also offer a unit JUST FOR PUSHBUTTON START. I saw it on their website. They even offer a "touch-start", the button senses touch, it doesn't depress. Check out their website, I don't know much about the other products. If you need any help, shoot me a pm. The MAIN problem you have to figure out is the ACC and IGN wires. The instructions don't explain it right, and as far as I can tell, the TL should be treated as if it has 2 ignition wire and 1 accessory wire (although all the wiring diagrams that exist call the 3 wires ACC 1, ACC 2, and IGN.) This took me 3 days to figure out (although it shouldn't have.) Good luck bro. Oh, and as far as using a data bus setup, that would save a lot of time, but there are still some things it wont do (wires u will still have to tap.) I'm not sure if you will have to leave a key in ur ignition since you have a manual, but I suspect you will. But hell, if your steering column doesn't lock, then I don't see why you'd have to. There is a great keyless transponder override on Amazon for about 40 bucks, I think.

Awesome thanks for the input on the ST800. I did go through their website and after lots of thinking, I think I might just go with the much simpler touch start system. I know this system does not have all the other fancy things such as remote start, keyless access, but for now I think I would rather just have full push start for now.
Im gonna drop you a PM for some addition info.

Thanks,
James

I'm very interested in getting these now. *White Angel* where are you located? or at least the guy that does your install for you? I live in NH but I'm considering driving down to NJ just to get it installed (maybe go on a weekend vacation while I'm at it ). I would really like these done properly and cleanly and I don't know any good places around where I live that I feel like I can trust.

Also, would I be able to put the button over the existing keyhole? I like how it lights up blue around the keyhole and I think it would be cool to have that blue circle around the start button.

You can put the button over the keyhole, but after much debating, I mounted mine on the dash. It just doesnt look right on the keyhole to me... Plus its really natural to have the button on the side of the dash that you get in the car on. Its very easy to turn the car off while standing outside of it with your hands full the way I have it: http://youtu.be/2p2VhrJpilY and http://youtu.be/eSHjJWmbVEY

I took mine to the installer yesterday and we got stuck. The remote wasn't properly linked to the main control unit so the car wouldn't start with the push button. The remote buttons didn't work at all, however, I could unlock/lock the car with the keypad. I didn't try starting it via keypad though. If any of you have ran into this problem could you please help me configure the remote or did it come pre-programmed? Thanks for any help.

My st800 is holding up great! I think this alarm is DEFINITELY money well spent. I can't tell you how nice it is to not have to worry about keys or alarm fobs... just leave it in my wallet 24/7.

I have a question .. Doesn't this affect the memory seats n settings? When I watch white angels video I notice u have memory seats?? And reading a post abt it might fry the other electronics got me worried a bit too cuz I have navi m Bluetooth which I wouldn't wanna risk frying so I was wondering if anyone who installed this system with navi n memory seats and such?

Just like ANY alarm, if its not installed right (or just installed lazily) there can be problems. That's the reason why afteruch debating , I decided to install myself. You must have someone that REALLY knows electronics to install this. An inexperienced installer who has experience only installing over the counter mainstream alarms,is going to run into problems. I admit, the instructions aren't the best. The alarm has in no way affected any of my other electronics, including my memory seats. I have not noticed any of the strange voltage issues reported by 1 person on here.

So it will still detect u as driver 1 and automatically change all settings back if say someone else drove the car and moved the seats and such once u walk to the door it will still reg u and change back the setting? And yea that's the other thing I worried about it to find a shop who's gonna be able to do this right cuz I know I won't be able to diy this myself .. And I wonder if there's any difference at all between a us model and a Canadian model of the tl?

Yes you can control the window up and down without buying any additional module. All you have to do is tap the AUX1 and AUX2 wires to the window controls. Then program AUX1 and AUX2 to output for 7 seconds of continuos pulse.

Bump.

How are all your units holding up? I'm looking to install something similar (EasyGo Universal) in the East Bay (CA) so if anyone can recommend a shop in the SF Bay Area, that'd be much appreciated. Thanks!
