Two amps using sing LoC from stock sub

Hi everyone,

I have an RF Punch 500-2 already installed with a single 10" sub. The amp supports pass-thru RCA's. I'm thinking about adding another amp and adding a couple of drivers for mid-bass.

Do any of you have experience going this route while using the same LoC added to the factor sub wiring and making use of a Y-cable?

Does anyone know the Hz range the factor amp is sending down the sub speaker wires?

I'm still on my factory deck and am not looking to replace it (yet) or any of the factory speakers if i can avoid it. I'm just looking for a little more punch in the mid-bass area.

My guess is that it's crossed somewhere near 250Hz. But there are two problems that you have to somehow overcome if you want to use it above the crossover frequency. The frequencies that you want to use are definitely there since there is no such thing as a perfect filter, but the question is whether or not the frequencies you want to amplify are above the noise floor. Some of them are and some are not. What is the frequency range for mid-bass?

The more unique problem to solve is how to create a non-linear amplifier. A filter's frequency response looks like this:

If the filter is a first order filter like this one, the slope is -20db/decade. Higher order filters such as the ones used in audio equipment have a much steeper slope. If you wanted to use the frequencies above the cutoff, you would have to use an amplifier that has a positive gain slope and I don't think those exist in the audio world.

So if you did that, you'll probably get some very limited signal to the mid-bass drivers, but not enough to add anything to the system in my opinion.

The OEM sub signal is crossed over too low to use the signal as a midbas input. It is 50hz @ 12db.
