Strange radar detector issue

I don't know how into detail I can go with this so I'll just get it out there. Every time I step on the gas and I get to 2k RPM, my radar detector goes off as 'Laser'. That's really all I can say. No idea whatsoever what the hell is wrong. Anyone have ideas?

Yeah, several reports of this over in the audio forum, most all with the escort/passport IIRC. I have the passport 8500 and it's never done it to me, but it has gone off (laser) a few time when running the wipers. Scared the crap out of me.

This has happened to me with my cobra, but not so much 2k as when i floor it... anyway i believe it has something to do with a slight power surge when you accelerate

I have the passport 9500i, it never does this either. The only time I hit laser is when I pick up the laser under my seat and it thinks my Navi screen is a laser.

My Passport 9500IX does this from time to time when I go to pass someone on a 2 lane road. Glad to know it's not just me.

Mine does it too....I simply disabled the laser function in the settings, but I think I'll try taking it apart like in the thread above.

Since I did mine originally back in 07, I haven't had the issue come back. Good luck, I hope you get it fixed.
