Sprint bluetooth phones

Hi all,

I'm a Sprint cell phone customer. I've read all the bluetooth threads and still cannot come to a clear conclusion if any of the few sprint bluetooth phones are reliable. It seems the Samsung A900 is not.

Is the Samsung A920 worth my money? I really don't want the hassle of switching carriers and want to stay with sprint.....

thanks all,
I learn so much you all.

Your best bet is to go with phones listed here:

http://www.handsfreelink.com/dev/fin...ycarrier&cid=3

I haven't been able to find a definitive answers on those phones. I am in the same boat as you...

For anyone that's interested, I have a LG PM-325 that I no longer use. I sell it cheap. PM me if interested.

The Palm Treo 700p hasn't been released yet, so there's no info on it, but I'd imagine that it wouldn't be much different than the 650.

Talking A920 works great

I've had no issues with the A920. Sounds fine. You'll see the caller ID on the dash, but no signal or battery meter. The reception and battery are very good, so those aren't really concerns. Let me know if you need more info.

Does anyone have an a900 that works moderately with the TL - have you gotten past the phantom calls - I can deal with no battery or signal meter, and I can even deal with manually hanging up calls - please chime in to let me know the status. I also would be willing to part with my LG 325 - PM if interested.

I paired the A900 on my TSX and it worked, but then the next time I went to use it the car couldn't find the phone now. I have followed the instructions just like before to re-pair the phone, but no luck now. I'm beginning to think I should have changed carriers.

Help!!

I'd try and figure it out, but seeing as I used to work with Palm in my last job, they are sending me a 700p in a few weeks, so I'm hoping that one will.

700p

My 700p should be in hand tomorrow, so I'll post a review (if it works) then! I hear the 650s are ok, a few hiccups tho'. 700 is getting higher reviews than the 650 on Infiniti's system, so keeping my fingers crossed here :)

LG350 works fine. However you do not get signal or battery strength.

Well, the phone easily pairs w/my Mac, but not my TL (06 by the way), so not sure what is up. Discoverable mode and all, followed both directions from car and Sprint, nothing yet. Will play around for a bit, but unless I post again, no go for the 700p for me :(

A920 is a fine if you don't need battery and signals bars

I did the research on the A920 after doing the last update ZB07. You can go to the Sprint Store and have them down grade to the YK12 software for free. Once done you will have full functioning HFL in your TL.

go here to see in depth post:

If anyone else gets a 700p, let me know what your results are... I'm not sure if this is just incompatible or if my Handsfree on my car is not working... Someone on the Treo forums posted that this worked with their TL, so now I'm confused.

Sprint as a new LG LX550 "Fusic" phone. I almost bought it when I heard it came out, thinking that it is TL compatible, just like other LG phones (I have 325 now). Went on the Honda site- oops
Right now Sprint doesn't have any non-PDA phones that compatible with TL. I don't even know who to blame- phones or HFL.

I have a Samsung SPH-A900 and have only one problem. When the call disconnects I hear a dial tone indicating to me that the line is still open. But after a second, I hear the standard HFL disconnect and the radio comes back on. I haven't had any issues with dropped calls, or mystery dialings that I have read in some threads. I usually have no problems and can keep my phone in my pocket. Sometimes (only rarely) I will have to take my phone out of my pocket and hit the end button for the line to disconnect. This has not been enough of an inconvenience to want to switch phones though. You dont, of course, have the signal or battery strength indicator with any sprint phone which is a bummer.

Wait... I take it back! I don't know what I did differently besides trying to pair the Treo 700p (Sprint) w/out the car being on, but it paired and it works! I didn't notice battery strength being displayed, but the signal strength was. I'll post more as I get some experience w/using this thing. First Bluetooth car/phone combo ever, so not sure what to say except "it worked" for now!

fxfixation, what do you think about battery life of A900? I read complaints about it. LG325 battery doesn't last long to begin with, but bluetooth connection with the car combined with few conversations may kill the battery in the phone in a day.

I did on the first and only inbound call I received... But the caller was in my phone's contact list already if that makes a difference. I'll have someone else call me after work in about four hours and let you know what happens!

i just tried the 700p with my car
when you try dialing with the phone, it wont use HFL and instead uses the phone.
The only way it works properly is if someone calls you or if you use the cars voice recognition system to dial out. I REALLY hope the 700p releases a fix for this SOON!

so did anyone here actually successfully pair their 700p? mine paired ok.. but there are some weird a$$ bugs when calling out... (not autoconnecting to car when dialiing out from contacts or favorites and static in the background).. and i never had these issues with the treo 650

after talking with a few others that have the 700p and TL's... its confirmed that the Treo 700p isnt fully compatible with our TL's BT system YET.

it calls out successfully for me, but not 100% of the time. I am thinking that it has something to do with how the call is initiated. After adding a number to my phonebook (on the car) for example, I then said “dial home” or whatever, the car asks “do you want to” and I just held down the talk/ok button on the steering wheel, bam… Dials out perfectly. I don’t know if it was ‘cause I just added a number or what, but it does dial out fine, just not on the initial call.

If you initiate it from the phone, I don’t see why you’d want to have it go HFL first, I’d prefer phone first and then if I feel like letting the rest of the car hear, then I transfer the call to the HFL… To me, that is a feature, not a bug. Anyhow, just a quick post, will try out in about another hour or so and post a little more a little later.

stingrey... i personally drive alone most of the time, so id prefer it go straight to HFL rather than saying "transfer" everytime i initiate a call from my treo. (we'll agree to disagree) :P

Marko,
hey your initial question about the 920... I am a sprint customer. I had a really old POS and have to say the ONLY reason I upgraded was because I optained an 06 TL. So I actually went out to sprint in search of a 900 RAZOR... Unfortunately (or fortuanately) they where out and I was forced to grab the 920. Since then I have found the 920 has much better battery life and I can say it's definately worked flawlessly with the TL. In short... "IT ROCKS!"

L1FRDOG, I am glad that A920 works for you- I just ordered one myself. Judging by it's specs and reviews, it is a better phone than A900, despite it's not very fashionable look and smaller display. What firmware revision you are on?

I am running the YK12 firmware... Like I said before I only bout the phone after I bought the TL (i.e. about 3 weeks ago) so it has the most upto date fireware loaded and works flawlessly

Is anyone besides me experiencing problems with the LG 350? It worked great with my 2006 TL for the first month or so, but now occasionally I have problems using the Bluetooth voice dial feature. I have had no issues with receiving calls in the car, however. I just tried to update the software package, on the theory that this might help, but am getting an "http error" and a statement saying the phone could not download the "upgrade package." Very frustrating!

Treo 700p

Well i received the phone and all linked up ok.

Outbound dialing
"dial" phone number...all works fine
after setting up phonebook in car
"dial home" all works fine

Inbound call
Seems for callerid u only see incoming call but u do receive the phone number.

Transfer from car to treo 700p, works fine with the command transfer

Transferring from phone to car...?
I stated transfer and it stated already in use, maybe i am not doing it right or u cannot transfer from cell to car....?

The signal strengh shows up but no battery.

Once your phone is setup and linked, go to setup menu again.
You can setup mail or female prompts and also incoming call promt or ringtone.

I also linked up a samsung a920 ok. But dont have the specifics as of yet.
