Shifter light out

I have a 2007 TL Type-S AT. The light that illuminates the Drive, Park, Reverse, ect. is out and is starting to bother me. I tried to get inside of it with no luck. I was able to get the skirt off around the shifter put not inside of the box the actual shifter connects to which I imagine is where the light is respectively.

In this diagram it is Part 12. I see that it gives me the unit put not a close up of it or blown up.

Anyone know how to get to this light(s) or is it going to have to be resolved buying a new unit?

you have to remove the 2 silver trim pieces that wrap around your console, remove cupholders, remove gear shifter area, and you'll uncover the teeny tiny clear bulb you have to replace.

yes, it's a pain in the ass to replace one bulb. but should only take you 1/2 hour or so. just some phillips head screws you gotta take out.

I have a slight variation to this that might make it easier for you if you have not changed the bulb yet.

1. Yes step 1, remove silver trim pieces on each side of console.

2. Dig out all your junk inside the console storage area, at the bottom there is a little rubber mat, remove it and below are 2 screws. Take them out.

3. There are one or 2 screws on each side of the console by the seat heater buttons, remove those.

4. Get in the back seat of your car lift the rear console up and disconnect 2 plugs and a harness clip.

5. Slide entire console out towards you. The unit comes out as a whole piece!!! which makes taking the rest of the shifter stuff out a breeze! Once you get it, its a 5 minute process.

This makes it a lot easier to take the shifter area out also.

Those wanting to replace with LEDs need a #74 bulb.
