Running both sub and 4 channel amp question..
So I am thinking about finally upgrading the factory speaker amp. I already have an aftermarket sub with amp using a line out converter straight from the the original sub location. My question is, will I have to move my LOC to where the stock amp is once I splice into it to run the aftermarket amp??
Not necessarily. Pick up an amp that is known to accept our low voltage, balanced-diff signal and play without a problem. JL hd and xd come to mind. XD's are cheap right now. What's your budget?
I took the post amp signal and it works just fine. If you have a loc already and your amp has pre-outs you could try it out to see if you like it. The processing in the stock amp does make the speakers last but also makes them sound good.

Tap into the front speaker wires near the stock amp - pre-amp if you want better sound quality (might need a line driver, signal converter, or an amp capable of doing both), post-amp if you want less trouble.
You will need two different sources unless you want a lot of work. The current signal and LOC will not play above 80 hertz, or so, and is not capable of driving components.
I would buy used JL slash amps before you get XDs... might be just me, though, with too many bad thoughts of TMA and e series JL products in my head. Go all the way, or go home with JL - their cheap stuff is still cheap IMO.
