Replacement Speakers

Can anyone recommend a brand of good sounding aftermarket speakers that will go well with my stock radio and sub? Thank you for any input y'all may have.

If you are replacing only the speakers and leaving the amp and such alone, then make sure you buy 2ohm speakers, as that's what the stock are. If you buy 4ohm they may be quieter. I think that's how it works?

stock speakers are actually less load than that. tweets are 4 ohm and the door speaker are 2 ohm, wire in parallel for a total load of 1.33 ohms to the amp.... the stock amp works better at lower impedance too (more power, less distortion) If going with aftermarket drivers it would be hard to find ones that will work better than the stockers on the stock amp.

This is a good thread that shows the specs of the ELS stereo system. About 1/3 way down the first page Mancur shows the size, wattage and impedance of the speakers. The rest of the thread has a lot of good info as well.

You can use the following as direct replacements as I did. The tweeter upgrade will yeild the largest improvement.

TWEETS - Infinity Reference 1031t
MIDS - JBL 662s
CENTER - Infinity something (I forget)

There is no need to upgrade the rear soundstage and is simply not worth the investment. Save the money and add some sound dampener to the front doors.

I never thought of dampening the rear doors. How does that help?

Uhhh...well, to be honest, I'm not sure since I've had it that way for so long. It was cheaper to buy a large quantity, so I just decided to go ahead and do it anyway. I can say, with certainty, that adding the decoupler is a total win. I would recommend it for anyone. Here's some additional shots and the decoupler. I used Second Skin Audio Overkill Pro, which is a closed cell vinyl. If I could do it again, I'd use Luxury Liner pro, and a lot more of it. Final shot is the trunklid, and I have HIDs for backup lights in case anyone asks.

I'm thinking about buying the CDT Audio HD M62 6.5 component set. The mounting depth is 2.93". Will these fit in my 05 TL?

I took my car to my local audio shop and had JL Audio 6x9's & 6 1/2" front & rear deck speakers installed. I'm running the stock amp to power the speakers and they sound great! I will be upgrading the amp soon Also have 1 15" VM Audio Sub sealed in a pro box for that bass

I want to replace the tweeters in my 04 TL. I put in a new touch screen Pioneer and I'm wondering whether to go with a 4 ohm or a 2 ohm. Guy at the audio shop said I should go 4 ohm and that's probably what they are anyways. I wanted to get the infiniti speakers but the reference 1031t are discontinued. Which infiniti would be best with the stock amp and aftermarket head unit?
