Replacement Cingular V600 has same problem
Got the replacement V600 from Cingular today. Still has to have the clamshell open to recieve a call via the HFL. Called the HFL folks and they said they've been getting the same type calls all week from folks who got the V600 replacement from Cingular.
Anybody have a solution other than getting a different model phone?

That's weird....I just bought a new one on 9/10/04 & I can recv calls with it open or close...having the bluetooth on just kills my cell battery really fast, I need to go get a car charger.
You could wait on the new 551 or Razor phone from Motorola if you prefer Moto's like me.

Replacement Works
I got a Cingular V600 replacement last week and it works great with the HFL. So far, all incoming calls with the clam closed have transfered to the HFL. My new software has a _A1 at the end which I didn't have before. I did not change any setting on the new phone just paired. The one thing I do a little different is that I turn on and off the bluetooth manually (save battery life). I've made a shortcut on the phone so it's easy to turn on and off. Once the HFL picks up the bluetooth connection, I close clam and sit back...

The V600 A1 S/W makes no sense to me. I have no idea why some work and some don't...

If you have a data cable, you can upgrade your own firmware...although Cingular would frown upon it, there's not much more you could do except keep swapping out the phone with them.

Par, my v600 with Cingular operates with the phone closed. I paired mine yesterday morning and was in and out of the car several times with the phone in my pocket and it seemed to work fine...although I did not have it set to auto answer...I then learned that pushing the talk button on the steering wheel is not the same as on the phone. The battery drained fairly quickly. Just this morning, I turned off the event lights to see if that saves any battery life.

You need the firmware update. I just got my TL on saturday, paired my phone with the car and was experiencing a similar problem. I could not answer any incoming calls, but could make outgoing ones. I updated my firmware today using a data cable and the phone now works great in my TL.

I have the v600 through Cingular and I can make out going calls, but incoming calls will not answer through HFL. It just hangs up on the person, or I have to pick up the phone and answer it that way.

JMan, Are you using TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.4AR as your firmware? I'm also a Cingular customer and had the same problem with the s/w version which came with my phone, but it is working better once I flashed to 9.4AR.

"Is this the party to whom I am speaking?"
V600, 2004 TL, AT&T.
Answering incoming calls via steering wheel button:
Press the phone icon and then wait until you see "In Use" on the MID. You can also hear some hum on the speaker indicating the calling party is there. Then, say "Hello".
There is a delay for some reason of about 3 secs between pressing the button and answering.
If you get anxious and press the button again, you can drop the call.
Just wait for the "In Use" and you'll have no problem.
