Ditto. I had the 60 buck deal last year that was good until 9/1/2005. This took about 3-5 mins to complete.

Thanks to all who kept this thread alive even though its not a "sticky"

They had to transfer me to the correct department that handled the promotion. All I had to do was confirm my name, address, etc. “again” and it went through.

BTW, I also took advantage of the first $60/yr promo for my 04 TL. They sure are loose when it comes to billing. I got the feeling that they would cheerfully bill me for $77/month if I was that gullible.
Well it looks like I won't be able to use this promotion after all. I got a letter today stating that my service would be up on the 22'nd of this month and a quarterly rate of $38.85 was the available plan.

I called back three different numbers (twice each) and got the same story each time. They are not offering back to back deals to me today. It looks like my choices are limited to $155.40 a year or $271.95 for a (special) two year plan. At these rates I will probably let my service expire and listen to local FM or my DVD-A collection.

You might want to confirm your own plans to make sure that they arn't trying to hose you as well. All I know is that XM is not worth $155 dollars a year to me.

Those letters are computer generated. Your new subscription won't start and you won't be billed until the old one runs out. Go to the website and to Manage My Account (or similar) and it will have the log of activity.

I renewed mine several weeks ago on the special but my old one didn't run out until August 26th. There was no interruption of XM reception.

Didn't work for me

I just tried getting the $77 offer (I had the $60 offer last year on my 04TL) and was told that it was only a one time deal. The guy asked where I got the promo code (Zwinback). I told him it was from Acura. He said it was a GM promotion. He said that if other Acura owners are getting the offer, they're cheating the system and will be bumped up to the real rate. I told him I wanted to cancel in that case and he said to call the main number - he couldn't handle that!

I may try again tomorrow. My service expired 8/31 apparently, and I just got the $38.85 letter today (dated 8/31!).

I just tried the same thing via the 4114 number. Phone rep told me that I was already on a promotional plan @ $77/year for the year ending 9/30/05 (not true, because I paid $60 for the first year...more great recordkeeping at XM!).

She said you can't do back-to-back promotional offers, so my annual renewal would be $142...or $38.35/quarter, per the letter I just received. Bitch of it is, even if I opt for the too expensive yearly plan she couldn't even process it until my subscription actually expires! I'd have to either send them a check for the quarterly amount or let my service automatically roll over to that plan then make another phone call to go back to yearly billing.

WTF?! I love XM radio, but their back-end support blows!

Is the $60 no longer good for the first time? I just bought my TL 3 months ago and my initial free trial period is about to expire. Can I get the $60 offer or is it now the $77 ZWINBACK offer? Is there a code for the $60 offer?? Thanks all...

I agree.
They said if you let the plan expire they will charge an additional $14.99 to re-activate it if you decide you really want it after all. I don't know if there is a grace period or not.

Renewal

I was on the $60 a year paln too and was told the same thing- I told them to cancel me then- I won't pay $38.95/quarter. I have been without XM for a few weeks now and I don't miss it that much

Hindsight is 20/20

I should have signed up for the $60 plan a year ago for 5 years (they gave me the option),

Now, no go on z winback - called the number listed here twice, called other numbers three times - no on the $77/year. They said if anyone got it it was "another agent's bad".

I really do like my XM but not for $38.85/quarter. I will likely do a multi-year plan. I did succeed in getting them down about $45-$70 -$100 on the 3, 4, and 5 year plan respectively.

Sux but it is something.

Just go through to XM @1-800-967-2346 and told them I was sorry but was going to have to cancel because the cost was 38.85 for three months. They switched me to a second CSR and I mentioned that I would have to cancel but I did have this code ZWINBACK MYP1 that was a $60 a year deal. The CSR looked up the code said that it had changed to $77 and wrote me up for another year.

Hello y'all, thanks for the info!

Yes, i got the $77/year deal after a nerve-wrecking minute. The rep said XM is no longer offering $60/year deal. Oh well, it was worth it - $77/year is still way better than $143/year. One thing she said though is that this special almost half-price deal is not for new customers, but for long-time valued customers - but she gave it to me anyway. X)

I used the promo code: "zWinBack" at 1-800-682-4114

It worked for me

I tried a week ago to get a year subscription for $60 off an offer I saw on fatwallet but they wouldn't give it to me. Today, I called with the 'Zwinback" code and they gave me the $77/year deal. Thanks everyone!

I also just got the $77 deal calling 800-682-4414. Told them my subscription had expired and I wanted the Zwinback promo. No problem. I previously had the $60/yr deal. Thanks to this thread, just saved 50% off the $38.85/qtr rate mentioned in my expiration letter.

Worked Great!

This probably isn't new info, but the promotion worked without problems for me. I am currently in the 3 month trial that came with my TL and the phone rep asked me where I heard about the ZWINBACK promo. When I told him I heard it from a friend that got it recently (actually from these posts) he said he'd do it for me, but that XM usually only did this for people they contacted......... WooHOO!!!

Didn't work for me on first number.

Well, they asked 'where I got the code' , I didn't tell them , then they said the code wasn't good.
That was the 1-800-967-2346.
Then I called the 1-800-682-4114 and they rep signed me up without the code for 77$ a month.

My initial subscription ended in Aug 2005. They sent me a bill for $142.00,( in August) which I tore up. They never turned off my radio.

sweet.. I just called the 4114 number and they gave me the zwinback 77 for a year, no questions asked...

you gotta think, it doesn't cost them a penny extra to sign up other people, the signal is sent out, all they're doing is unlocking your radio to receive their signal.... just like the dish in the house.... I think..

so why wouldn't they sign people up for the 77/year, I would not have signed up for 140whatever they wanted... so they get the 77 instead of 0 for no extra cost to them.

Thanks gang, worked like a charm... I called the 800-682-4414 number and asked right away for the Zwinback promotion. The rep asked where I heard about it, and I said "through my dealer" and he said "ok then, done deal".

I asked him if there was an "incorrect" answer to that question and he laughed and said "yes actually- it used to be that we could hook anyone up that called with the promotion code, no matter where they heard it from... but now- if you heard it from your friend (or other forms of word-of-mouth) we are not supposed to honor it."

That's exactly what he said... so I'm wondering if the "other forms of word of mouth" (e.g. this board) is what's having some of the reps hesitate.

Anyway, that's what my experience was and (once again) I'm psyched to get the "inside scoop" from the Acurazine site!!

Thanks again,

Winback program couldn't get it

I have a 2004 TL and I've been on the $60 Winback promo for a year which expires in a few days. I've called 4 times each with a different rep and they said that I could not re-up on the $77 Winback because I'm already on it.

"You must pay full price to keep the service" is what I heard again today when I tried. I asked the rep if there are any other promotions available, he said "No, full price is your only option"... I told him to cancel my service, he said "OK" and gave no alternative offer. I was shocked that they just let me go.

Oh well, I'll sit it out a bit maybe I'll get a coupon in the mail to re-up or I'll just sign up on the multi-year plan for 3 years at $9.99 per month. The XM website says that there is no obligation and you can cancel at anytime for a prorated refund. I don't understand why the XM reps on the phone didn't offer that plan as an alternative.

Talking 3rd time is the charm

My 3 month free trial laid an egg today! I called a few weeks ago with the Zwinback "scam"... they said I must wait until it expires. I called back tonight and they refused to honor the 77 dollar deal. They said it was for customers who had been out of service for over 4 months. I lied and said I actually took the car to the dealership because I thought the XM was broke. I twisted my web of deceit by saying the dealer gave me the Zwinback code. Still no go. I went up the food chain to a manager and repeated my woes... they wanted the dealer to call them. I then (another lie) said the car was equipped with both sirius and XM and this ordeal was pushing me the other way! They took my name and said a higher up would contact me. I hung up. By chance, I called back again, got a guy name Dick (he was not) I gave him the zwinback speil, he laughed out loud and said," that's pretty slick, but I'm gonna hook you up for the 60 bucks plus taxes." Took the card number and I assume the taxes will bring it to 77? I'll check my statement for the actual charges and re-post. By the way, I love the car. My sony 710a phone works great unles it drops a call, then I have to shut it down and re start or reboot the car. Best to all RB

Mail solicitation

I just received a flyer from XM offering 50% off a yearly subscription with no activation fee. The result is the same as zwinback: $77 for one year. Now that they are begging me to reactivate, maybe I'll take them up on the deal.

Wow Thanks! The card mentions a number on the back of the card. Is that a number you can share too or is that a unique one time only use code?

TERMINADER TL - THANKS!

I have been calling for weeks trying to get $77. Every time it is a no go, they say that since I was on the $60 /year plan for the past year, they cannot give me the $77.

I just called them and told them I got the flyer you posted and they said no problem - $77/year. I tried to sign up for 5 years, but they said the $77 is for one year only.

Thanks again!

It says UNIQUE so I won't be sharing it. Call them like Pinito stated and see if that works for you. They badly need the market share to stay ahead of Sirius. The sales reps probably just need a reason code to enter into the sales form.

Booyah!

Terminader TL's color XM mailer did the trick.

After 3 trys and 3 failures without the mailer, the 4th attempt was magic with the mailer, I got the $77 1 yr deal. They just asked when I received it and DID NOT ask for a mailer code. I called the number on the mailer

1-800-321-7117

Thanks Terminader

You are welcome. Glad I could help.

Everyone else needs to hurry - offer expires Friday (9/30). The Radio ID printed on the card is the same ID you see on your TL's XM when you tune to channel 000.

I just called and asked the rep. if he was sure about the $77.00 a year, I gave him the code and i told him that I thought it was $60.00.

He apologized and said that I was right about the $60.00 a year and signed me up……

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh hell yeah, that worked like a champ. First try and got it right away. The XM guy was real cool, no problem at all. I just said that my 3 month trial was ending and that the Acura Dealership mentioned the $77 deal. He didn't ask for a code or anything. Thanks for saving me some cash guys!

Why don't you READ the posts in the thread as recent as today- the offer is still good if you follow the instructions. Unless you are talking about the $77 vs. $60.

And some members even got that within the last few days.
