Renew XM Radio for $77 for 12 Months (Part 1)

I'm the proud owner of a brand new 04TLNavi.

I called XM and without any hassle, I got the $60 deal. The rep told me they were extending the offer to OEM. So now I'm good thru Dec. 05!

Good Luck :)

madas 09-30-2004 07:10 AM

Anyone have a promotion code or a package number? they told me they don't know anything about that $60 deal

Thanks

Graham

madas 09-30-2004 09:58 AM

Called back 3 times and finally got someone who knows!

looks like the code might be

ZWINBACK MYP1

sw1tchn1nja 09-30-2004 07:12 PM

Thats still a valid code, i just called them and signed up for 60 bux, which will kick in at the end of my trial period

Fredo0709 09-30-2004 10:13 PM

ok, what the heck? i called and they told me that i'm supposed to get something in the mail and then they would offer it to me. but since i didn't get anything in the mail, i am not "qualified" for it. what should i do? just call back and pretend i got something in the mail?

sw1tchn1nja 09-30-2004 10:34 PM

sure....whats the worst they're gonna say.."no"?

Fredo0709 10-01-2004 12:40 AM

haha, and in fact they did... i had to make up a story about how the "postcard" was sent back home to my parents... makes me want to cancel the subscription...

Achance 10-01-2004 03:02 AM

wtf, i called the other week and the lady said that offer expired

robrow65 10-01-2004 09:35 AM

Get the right rep on the phone..

Board....

I think it is just a matter of who answers the phone at XM.

All I said to the rep was that I just purchased the Acura TL with XM and then asked if the $60 promotion was still valid. He immediately offered to give me the special.

I think the key is that you should say that it is "my understanding that XM is extending the $60 to OEM." That should do it.

Also, the rep told me about www.xm411.com Cool site! Check it out!

dwcolt 10-01-2004 10:30 AM

I just called this morning- no problem in getting the $60 deal.

Pue 10-01-2004 11:20 AM

what is the $60 deal?

underdog_RENAMED2 10-01-2004 12:09 PM

Yes, someone please explain. It "sounds like" you get a year for $60... ??

Abyss blue 10-01-2004 12:46 PM

Yup, it's $60 for one year. I got it, and I didn't even have to mention that I had a new TL. You have to call to get it. I didn't get a mailer.

RL67TL 10-01-2004 12:57 PM

Thanks for the info. I just got mine for $60. Appreciate it.

CDW 10-01-2004 03:30 PM

It took 3 calls, but I got the deal as well. The first person knew of the deal but cut me off while transferring me to the "correct department". When I called back the rep had not heard of the deal and wouldn't honor it. The third call produced the right result... the rep knew of the deal, sent me to the right department, and now I'm good until Dec. 2005 for $60.

Thanks for all the information everyone!

Dr.Murdock 10-01-2004 03:43 PM

wow, what a great price. I got my TL June 19th and the radio still works. i tried listening to AM to see how it would feel when my trial expired, but i couldnt listen to mroe than 30 seconds of it. I think i will call and get the 60$ deal. Really worth it.

carcar 10-01-2004 04:57 PM

I called the day after we purchased our TL, about 3 weeks ago, and they actually had no account of our vehicle in their system. We were receiving XM without them knowing, but they right away honored the $60 offer, which will start when our 90 day trial expires.

rifleman-cl 10-01-2004 07:47 PM

Same here, my trial ends in Dec. I just called and received the $60 promotion to extend the subscription.

92NSX 10-01-2004 07:53 PM

Wow, that kicks A**. I will call them tomorrow on it.

nortynorty 10-03-2004 07:27 AM

I'm having some trouble getting the promo, but have not given up. Called yesterday, the young woman had no clue as to what I was talking about, put me on hold a couple of times then said she would transfer me to the correct dept to help me...sounds like CDW's experience...never got connected...or at least I had to hang up before I got connected. Called this morning rep said that the offer is only good on GM cars and said that the code listed that madas has above is for that. No way I'm giving up after so many of you seem to have gotten it...we'll see.

moreace 10-03-2004 10:08 AM

I got it no prob on 1st call. Keep trying

thegabrielles 10-03-2004 10:16 AM

I am working with the salesman right now, he is saying that he is going to give me a free ninety days because he noticed it had not been activated properly originally. That's 15 months for $60, What a deal the guy is being extrememly helpful!!!! I used the code ZWINBACK MYP1-- Thanks MADAS!!!

OEM trial package- 90 days Free
12 months for $60

Thanks for this great thread,

thegabrielles 10-03-2004 10:23 AM

Well, slight error, he said I need to call back in late December for the 12 months for $60. The promotion does not have an experation date so he says there should be no problem getting it at any time just provide the code.

nortynorty 10-03-2004 06:36 PM

Third time's a charm...took 3 reps on the 3rd call, but it looks like I'm good until 12/05. Thanks all...wouldn't have known about it without you!

TL Boris 10-04-2004 08:41 AM

Thanks a bunch guys - just called and it seems you have to talk to the "Retention Department" before they can take that code and make it happen. Also cool was that Acura must not have put in the order until 10/2/04 for me - when the car was bought 9/11/04.

I suspect this "Retention Department" can help us once our 12 months are up again!

thegabrielles 10-04-2004 11:41 AM

Actually, the guy I spoke to said he could take care of it. But since I was still due the first three months free he ended up giving me that first. He said the code had no expiration date so I should not have any problem getting it in a vouple of months, of course we all know how that could go... :-)

Yes, the key is ask for the retention department. I called twice and the operators both said that the offer was expired, and it had only been available for people whos subscriptions had run out.

On the second call, after the operator said the offer expired, I asked to be transfered to the retention department. I said "I have an Acura TL and the trial period is about to expire (one month), I would like to sign up for the $60/12 month offer." She asked for my phone number (verified the account) and thats it, my service won't expire until November 2005. 15 months total for $60, and people are actually paying $10 a month?

Thank you XM radio and A-TL. :woot:

RPIdad08 10-05-2004 01:54 PM

No $60 deal for me.

So I call today & they tell me that the deal expired Aug 31. The girl checks again with her supervisor & I get the same answer. She then asks me, is there anything else she can help me with & I tell her I don't want to speak to the supervisor, but I want the $ 60 deal.

I tell them since they have all of my contact information to contact me when they want another customer.

I really would have preferred Sirrius, but since there is no NHL season (yet?) it is not a critical issue anyway.

It is nice, but lets not go overboard. I get plenty of radio stations here in central NJ.

THANK YOU!!! I've tried at least 4 times to get the 60 dollar deal, but no go. I call today, ask for retention department, told them my trial expired, told them my friend got a 60 dollar deal... and they gave it to me! whoohoo!

rjlech 10-06-2004 01:10 PM

I tried to use the ZWINBACK MYP1 code today, the XM rep. said it was a GM promotion and did not apply. :lame: He tried to offer a 3 month comp. at the non discounted rate but only if I signed up for the 3 year package. I told him no thanks. I will keep trying.

k6biv 10-06-2004 05:17 PM

Thanks

Greetings:

I too just ordered the XM $60.00 deal. I already had an account with XM with a radio in my wifes car. I mentioned the information listed on this forum and they gave me the $60.00 deal.

just called and asked for the retention dept and the sales person signed me up right away. My 3 free months expired in sept. and I was on the fence about this but couldn't pass up on the $60 / year deal.

rjlech 10-07-2004 12:31 PM

Tried again today and asked for retention dept. Got the $60 deal! At first he said it expired then he asked me what kind of radio I have, told him of my 04' TL and he said since it was an OEM installed XM radio he would honor the offer. Thanks for the help.

josie1 10-07-2004 05:54 PM

Group, thanks for your encouragement. I tried for weeks when I was in my 3 month trial, attempting to get the reduced price. Nada. Full price ($119.88) or no service.

I called today, with the emails (threads) in front of me. Casandra from the San Angelo, TX office, apologized for the initial overcharge. She checked with a supervisor. And came back with two options:
1) leave the $59.88 on account
2) send me a check for the $59.88.

I tried to get them to apply the overcharge towards the second year. They didn't buy it. So I requested to have the $59.88 send back to me in a the form of a check.

Again thank you all for setting the foundation and giving me the confidence to keep persuing MY money.

Have a great day.

I love my TL!!!! ABP 04 5 AT

what did u tell them, did u have to give them a promotional code?

ljs3000 10-11-2004 04:54 PM

I just called and got the $60 deal also. I had paid for 3 months (at $30) after my first 3 months expired. So today I called them to tell them I wanted to cancel and they offered me a 3-month promotion for $5.99 (for 3 months). I asked them if they had "any other deals for a year renewal" and they said they had a $60 promotional deal going on which I got.
