yep got it! after second try... the first rep didnt response to the code.. stating that it expired 10/31. Called again after an hour talk to a rep.. he transferred me to the "retention dept" and yep.. got it... no problem signed me in with my credit card... total $68 with some change... chargeable after my trail period... im happy :)

Got it today, first call. Didnt' use any code. First person I talked to told me that she would have to transfer me to another department. She also said it was only for people that had let their service lapse and didn't plan to pay at all so I probably wouldn't qualify. I told her to go ahead and connect me anyway and I'd see what happens. Next woman came on, I told her I had heard there was an offer for the people that had 3 month trials to extend an extra year for $60 and she said, "No problem."
|
I'm happy they had this promotion. It's simply not worth paying $10 a month for radio service, even $8 and change....
|
Got mine yesterday. No Problem Just told them wanted the "Win Back" offer, they asked me if I got something in the mail I said yes. Otherwise no problems
|
Success!!
Picked up my new TL on Monday and got the $60 XM deal on Wednesday. First guy that answered did not know what I was talking about, I told him to ask his Supervisor. He did, came back on the phone and said no problem. Also, it starts AFTER the 90 day free period ends.
|
I was sent to the "Retention Dept." on my second call. She said no problem on the $60 deal. However, I could not actually do it until my trial period expired. She asked that I call back on the day before my free period ends to complete the order. She also said she made notes in my account so the $60 deal will be no problem. I just have to wait two more months. We'll see. Strange that everyone is getting different answers.
|
My 3 month trial expired in Sept but just did not feel like paying $10/month.
I tried the $60 deal today and still worked today, called retention dept and told them the code, XM up and running in 5 minutes, have to have your XM Radio ID number though... I think on channel 0 of XM |
Finally got around to doing the deal tonight. XM radio stopped so I had to.
Had to 'lie' and say that Acura called me and gave the deal # so I could get it. She didn't have a problem doing it. |
After reading about this deal for months on several forums I finally decided to give XM a call (just a couple of minutes ago).
They honored the promotion without hesitation! Thanks everybody. |
Still works! Absolutely delighted to have this forum to keep me informed about deals like this. Called the retention number 800-998-7900 and it took all of 2 minutes, no hassle or code needed. :)
|
Just got off the phone and they told me to call back closer to my trial date since I have a little over a month left on the free 3-month deal. She noted my account for the $60 special so no hassles when I call back.
|
Got it on the first try. Called the retention dept, gave them the code and told them that my dealer gave me the code and they gave me the promo no questions asked. Thanks!
|
does anyone know if i can get xm radio in Toronto, Canada ?
if i get the hardware for it, i doubt i have to pay for the signal as the Canadian government has yet to allow xm radio here - yet the signal is still strong! my tl does not have an option for xm nor does it has an aux button... so, how would i do this? can i set the tape button to work two functions? or should i just replace my option for tape with xm? :dunno: thanks guys! |
Got $60/year, to kick in after my trial period
Thanks for the info in this thread!
I still have 2 months to go in my trial period; called the retention number 800-998-7900 and asked for the $60/12 months offer to be added on to my current trial Acura TL trial period; the rep asked if I got the offer from Acura, I said yes. She went ahead and recorded the credit card and said the charge would be applied in January at $60 plus state taxes when the trial period expires. She also created an account at xmradio.com where I was able to login and see my account info. My current services there show as: OEM XM 3 Month Trial Service GM Winback Special 1 Year MYP I didn't have to say anything about GM ;-) (and didn't have to provide any code) |
XM $60 deal still working !
I just used the code you provided and they honored it. Thanks! :racing:
Code Used:ZWINBACK MYP1 Caramel |
i have about 75 days left on my free trial period with xm, should I wait till later or sign up now for the $60 offer?
|
i just used the same promo code and told them i recieved it from the dealer. SIGNED UP! and ready to go
|
Trying to get the $60 deal now.. They are telling me that it is only for GM cars, that it has only ever been for GM cars, and that anyone who got the $60/deal will be cut off. Of course I don't believe any of this.
I guess they won't get any of my money because it's barely worth $60/year for me. |
Yes, Do it Now!
Benkei,
They start your annual subscription at the end of your trial period. Mine ends in January, so it's not too early. If they persist, hang up and talk to another representative that knows the system. Wolftag, the "GM only" thing is not accurate! Get it! You'll miss it when it's gone. Drive Safe, live free! Caramel :racing: |
WooHoo
Just called that Retention # and got my XM for 60 with no questions asked!!
|
I called twice now and both people said that an invoice will be generated for $60/year at the end of the trial period. This sounds strange since I see other TL owners are getting this now without having to wait for the trial period to end. :lame:
|
just called...and they said it's at the end of the trial period as well...and if i did get it right now, it would start 1 year from today...and I would lose my 2 months that I still have left...sux0r
|
I called this morning (12-01-04)
My free XM expires on Dec. 15th. I called the retention department at 1800-998-7900 and simply asked to sign up for the $60 a year subscription fee. I had to only provide my radio ID code. They will send me a bill in the mail. No Questions asked. Thanks everyone for saving me the extra $60 i love this forum :D |
Just completed the transaction. :) Rock'n good deal!

:woot: |
I called the retention # late last night, asked for the $60 deal for folks with the free trial, no problems adding it to end of my service which expires later this month...He invoiced me rather than take my credit card info because he could not confirm how much sales tax to charge and the invoicing process would figure it out automatically.
|
Another success story .. took less than 5 minutes. I dialed the 800 number for retention listed in this thread. I told them my trial ran out. I then gave my radio number and the winback code and all done! Thanks to everyone for the good work.
|
Works like a charm, didn't have to say any code or nothing. Asked for my phone number, but my dealer didn't register it with them. Then I gave my radio number, and she hooked me up with not any code, just the $60/year deal. 8 minutes is all it took, billing me w/ paper when they get around to it. Sweet. I called before, not the retention department but the regular department, and the guy was an absolute asshole. So don't waste your time calling the regular department.
|
It took me all of 3 minutes! I told the rep I wanted the current offer of $60 for 12 months. I gave her my radio code. Next, she verified my personal information, charged it to my credit card and we were done. The 1 year service will start when my trial period ends on Monday 12/6. Thanks to you all! :D

I was able to receive the $60 offer, but XM's billing department is completely incompetent. I purchased the car on 9/17/04 and the three free months should have run until 12/17/04. I used the promotion code and received the promotion rate with no hassle. Unfortunately their billing department screwed up and billed my credit card $81.36 on Nov 7. I was told on the phone that I would be billed $60 in December at the end of my three month trial - not the case. To add to the billing errors they have disconnected my service this past Friday. I have been on the phone with them four times and now I am in direct contact with a supervisor. They have been unable up to this point to correct the billing error or resume service. My advice is wait until the last day your three month trial is going to end and then call with the promotion code. Apparently they have stated that using the one year promotion code along with the three month code caused their billing system to lock the account. Very disappointed that Acura partnered with XM!

My free 3month trial expired 11/30/04. In Sept, I called to reserve the $60 free trial. I have completely forgotten to call them in Dec 1st to take advantage of the $60/year subscription. As of this morning my XM is still working, I preceeded to call to take advantage of the offer. The customer service rep was checking my account and informed me that I have been given and "additional" 6months free trial and that nothing is due. I asked how did I get so fortunate and he replied that on my record, I have complained that three months was too short for a trial period and that I was given the additional 6 months. Has anyone ever got the same deal? |

Just worked for me, too . . . took all of 5 minutes (or less), and they told me that the $60/yr promotion would start automatically January 26th (at the end of my 3-month trial).

just got off the phone, the key for me was saying that I recieved an offer in the mail with WZINBACKMYp1 on it and that did the trick. thanks for the assistance saved me a pretty penny

The $60 deal is in effect. I tried during my 90 introduction period to get the deal. Every rep, pleaded ignorance. I relented and paid $120.00 for the first year.
From the encouragement and success of others, I called XM and request a rebate. The rep said that XM would process the rebate but because I paid cash it would take 60 days. I waited a month and called back, the supervisor I spoke with saw that I had called in in October but the customer service rep did not process the rebate. I suggested, that my 60 day window should start from my October phone call, not from our November call noticing that his staff dropped the ball. To my surprise right before Thanksgivning I got the check from XM radio for appx $60. I like the programming, it is much better at $5.00 a month :-) later, Josie |

I had posted before that I could not get the $60 deal when I called the rentention line. I called about 5 times -- each time I was told that the deal was only for GM cars. They refused to even try to enter the code for me.
I called the normal number on the XM brochure, and got the deal with no problem! |
I got the 60 dollar deal today. I actually got a call from XM today asking to resubscribe after my 3 month free trial ended . The free trial ended in october. All I said to them was that I got the "win back" offer in the mail a while ago and I still wanted it. He said that all he needed to do was record the fact that I got the offer in the mail. To top it off, they waived the activation fee for me too.
|
I just did it too. Called the Retention Dept # (800-998-7900) and told them I wanted to sign up for the "Win Back" Offer.
I told her I got something in the mail about it but I had left it at home and I was at work. She fumbled around for a minute to find my account, but other than that didnt hassle me about the $60 price. I Love the Internet. Thanks A-TL.com! |
Sounds like the days of the dot-com boom. XM must be more interested in showing growing numbers of subscribers & market share; they'd rather keep customers than maximize their revenue per customer.
