Removing my factory amp?? Anyone help?
Removing my factory amp?? Anyone help?
Hello
I have a 04 tl with nav. I have added a four channel and two channel amp to my system but the sound quality wasn't there. Someone sugested the get a audio control unit to open and flatten the frequency. I was thinking the best thing to do would be to remove the factory amp and install the audio control in it's place. I know the amp is in the pass. kick panel but im not sure how to remove it. Any help??

Most of the audio control pieces are going to use high level inputs that would originate from your factory amp. If you are looking into an LC6, LC7 or LC8 or DQL8, they will not flatten the signal - although the DQL8 will allow you to eq the signal. If you want to remove the amp, you will have to use something that takes a low level signal like a AC DQXS, Bitone, RF 360 or an MS8. There are a lot of threads on here about these products, you really need to determine if you are willing to get rid of the factory amp first and foremost because you will lose your navi voice, but the SQ is much improved when taking that out of the chain.
My vote is a MS8

Just pry up the door sill panel and the same for the kick panel... It's just a bunch of clips.. Nothing major... If any of the clips stay in the holes when you pry them off... Shoot me a pm.. I'll show you a lil technique to get them back
After market amp
I didnt realize that i couldnt just hook up the preamp wires right into the LC6. Another way I'm looking into is AOEM-HON20 which is supposed to replace the factory amp. Anyone ever try one and if so any feedback?
