? regarding Navi

On my '08 base... I've always wondered if this is just a flaw in the software, or if something is wrong with my Navi unit.

When I have it set to "Auto" (adjusting for day time or night time), it never switches to night. It doesn't do it automatically... And it doesn't matter if I have the headlamp switch to "auto" or if I turned the headlamp switch to on/off.

It's the only thing that seems to be wrong with the unit so I never made a fuss to bring it to the dealers to have them check it out. I just assume it's a flaw in the software. I've just adjusted manually myself going into setup and dimming it at night and changing it back to day during the day.

But am I wrong? Is everyone else's Navi properly adjusting itself between day/night time settings when set on Auto?

Did you set the screen to AUTO through the settings? Not the knob by the steering wheel.

Yep. Set it to "auto" via the setup button on the console control. I never use the "auto" for the headlamp control (other than the few times I was testing out the Navi to see if both were linked).

Is there anything covering/interfering with the sensor on the dash? Black square on the driver's side.

Nope. I have nothing covering the dash. So by your response, I'm assuming yours dim automatically, and something is seriously wrong with mine?

when ur headlights turn on the navi screen should automatically dim too ... if u have set it on auto in the nav ... otherwise i would think something is wrong, make sure that you dont have the dash lights set to max cuz then it wont dim with the headlights

Adjust the instrument panel light level to 1 bar below "Maximum" with the headlights OFF.
Then turn the headlights on-- the Navigation screen should then automatically go into night mode whenever the headlights activate, either in "Auto" or "On" position.

Hm... interesting. That is something that I hadn't tried yet. I may have my dash lights set at max. Thanks for the heads up.

That's the next thing I was going to say. I'm sure your dash is set at MAX. When it's at MAX, the navi screen stays lit up bright, even at night.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their responses. You have answered my Navi question spectacularly. "Auto" is now working as intended.
