Ok sorry, but I didnt really know where to post this, so im posting it here.
I just got a escort passport 8500 x50 about 5 months ago. And at first it seemed to work fine, but now it seems to be on the firtz. Sometimes it picks up random signles, or it wont alert me until the cop is literally 2 car distances. One time I drove right in front of one of the posted "your speed is ..." radar signs, and it didnt go off until last minute.. WTF?!?! I payed like 280 for this thing, whats going on?? neone else have these problems? Is there a way escort will give me a new one??
Or maybe I need to switch it to a different mode. Neway, any advice is appreciated!

 

check all the programming settings, turn off the x-band, set the mode to HWY (more sensitive) and make sure that you are not blocking it with anything.

Where exactly is it mounted in the car? Did you buy it new? If so, call escort and see what they can do.

My 8500 I've had for about 4 years now, and its great! Still works like a charm, with the occasional glitch, and the exception that none of the buttons work..... I called escort and they said send it back with $50 and they would literally take it apart, clean everything out, and put it back to almost brand new condition, versus getting $30 for it on trade twoards a new one!!

 

Definitely call Escort if it's still under warranty. I've had my X50 worked on TWICE because of antenna problems.

 

Like Johnny said.....make sure you don't have it mounted too low on the windshield. Double check your settings. You also didn't mention if it was new or you bought it used.
