Fellaz, just spent reviewing all existing pages on aftermarket audio units and didn't find a thread addressing DOUBLE DIN pic's and preferences.....

Figure we could start one since I've spent the last week researching Double Dins, Carpc, non-nav to nav, etc. in hopes of upgrading my stock '06 TL non nav head unit to accommodate DVD, aux in for IPOD, gaming devices(WII, PS3, Xbox etc.) navigation, and other bells and whistles.

For the most part I'm leaning heavily toward Double Din mod; HOWEVER, some concerns would be:
-no aftermarket kits for Double Dins (must be custom fab)
-any capabilities factory audio system provides that might be lost due to mod i.e. Bluetooth, steering wheel controls
-is it going to be compatible with stock Bose speakers?

DIRECTIONS:
1) Post your pics of your DDin set up.
2) Brief description of your DDin's capabilities and limitations (if you have any like any features that came stock with the TL but no longer have due to mod)
3) DDin type and Price and location one might be able to purchase.
4) Installation notes: obstacles you personally encountered and overcame during install.

Let's generate enough info on this page for future DDin-ers to utilize as source of one-stop-Double Din-shop

highly scrutinizing Kenwood DNX5140 going price is $598 at Sixth Ave Electontonics. Best Buy is a complete rip off selling same unit for $949!


this work of art was done by local shop in NoVA. Driver had custom mounted 12" sub in the trunk including parts/labor all under 1G!!
