"Phone Setup" command doesn't work

Hi all,
I was trying to setup my Nokia 3650 tonight. I can't for the life of me to get the voice recognition to understand the "Phone Setup" command. Unfortunately this is the first darn step. I speak very clearly and I typically don't have problems with other commands. Is there any way to manually enter Phone Setup? I get the following "guesses" by the system when I say "Phone Setup"

- Setup (Enters the regular setup)
- Find Nearest Restaraunt
- Set fan speed 7.

I was getting pretty frustrated. The phone has bluetooth turned on. I am not sure what is meant by discovery mode, but I have set the phone up to be seen by other devices. I can connect to the phone via bluetooth with my Palm Tungsten T3 and surf the internet, so I know that the phone's bluetooth is working.

After working on this for around half an hour I also found that the system doesn't understand curse words either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dino

First, the car should be in "P" (park)

Maybe you're pressing the wrong button on the steering wheel. Try pressing & then releasing the top button w/ the pic of a phone on it & say "phone setup". If you are pressing that button, then there's something else going on w/ the HFL system that won't let you get to the phone set-up.

You can also go to your salesperson & have them help you out w/ your problem. Let us know what was the problem. Good luck.

BTW, the first time I paired my phone it was pretty easy. After I replaced my phone under warranty, I paired the new phone again w/ no problems. The second time I went into "phone setup" I must have missed the options it had the 1st time like: prompt or ring for call waiting, male or female voice, & a few others I can't remember. I currently have "ring" to notify me of call waiting, but I need to try out the "prompt" & see which one I like better.

the responses you're getting are from the NAV handsfree, not the Phone handsfree.

Should be an easy fix ...

This used to happen to me a lot when I first got the car, if it responds with prompts for the Nav, Climate Control, or Radio, you're on the wrong button.

Thanks!!! I was indeed pressing the NAV talk button. Once I pressed the right button, it took me all of 2 minutes to setup the phone.

Dino, this happened to me when I setup my first phone pairing. Same exact thing... The lady kept barking "Pardon". Or my AC would go full blast. Haha...

Ditto here, too.

I was trying to speak so clearly and I was even putting my head nearer the mirror.

Yeah I felt goofy about it. I speak fairly clearly and the system understands everything I toss at it, and to have it not understand two words.....duh?

I felt like an idiot too... Once I realized what I had been doing. I was literally sitting there for 5-10 minutes with it saying "Pardon" or blasting the AC. Felt like a goober! Paired my wifes phone a little while later in no time. Haha. )
