Oops, V600 takes a dip. Any suggestions?

Cup of water sitting in the forward cupholder. V600 in my lap. A left turn and V600 somehow rolls right into the cup of water, totally submerged. It was on and I was in the middle of the phone call. It was under water for about 2 seconds. When I fished it out, it was off. I let it dry out for a day, but it still won't turn on. Anyone had this happen? Guess I'm screwed.

Update....

Well, after drying out for 2 days, the phone is working, sort of. Everything appears fully functional, except for the screen. It's dead. I can make and receive phone calls, and the bluetooth still syncs up with my TL.....

I completely revived a Samsung phone that my wife took swimming. This phone had completely quit working , but I used my baking oven at low temp and all the water came out and the screen cleared up. What I did was to heat the oven to about 150 degrees, then turn if off. I put the phone in it for the night. (I taped a note on the stove to make sure no one used it!!) I did this for three straight nights and it was fine except the battery was shot. I replaced the battery and it has been fine for 4 months now. BTW they put a special ink mark on the phone and the battery and the cell phone providers can tell if the phone has gotten wet.

Good luck.

Buy a new phone...that's all that you can do. If your v600 already has limited abilities already...looks like it already went into shock.

Great idea! Thanks, I've got nothing to lose. I've already called AT&T (Cingular) to see what my options were. Obviously, they told me the only thing I could do would be to replace the phone or see if Motorola could repair it at my own expense. (I didn't lie to them, don't believe in making others pay for my own stupidity.) They don't have any V600's in stock right now. I'll give your idea a try....

Thanks for the offer. I may be contacting you if the "oven" trick doesn't work.

You could place it in a sealed vessel and draw a vacuum on it, the water will boil off in a vacuum, I once used this on an expensive watch....................well it does work.

About, your phone. I don't think the oven thing would work. If this ever happens to you again. You should do this:

1) Take the battery out.
2) Take all of the covers off (if possible)
3) Put the phone at an angle so it can drain.
4) Do not use a hair dryer to dry it (or any other device that produces heat, it will warp the phone internally).
5) Let nature takes is course
6) Last let it sit for at least 24 hours to dry.

You have a 50/50 chance of saving your phone.

My .02 cents worth.

Happy ending ......Got a new V551 from AT&T for $74.99 (1 year contract extension). This was a much less expensive blunder that I had been prepared for.

My V600 fell into the deep end of my swimming pool and it took about 1 minute to get it out. I took the covers off, removed the battery and let it lie on its side. After a couple of days I tried turning it on and it would start to boot and then shutdown. I kept trying for a couple more days.

Finally, as I was calling Cingular to check on the insurance coverage, I tried one last time and it booted up. I have been using the phone for a couple of months however, the vibrate (when a call comes in) feature will not work and the camera picture quality is full of static.

Mine was only in the cup of water for about 5 seconds. I think my mistake was not waiting long enough before I turned it back on (less than a day). Still no guarantee that the screen would've worked. The $75 V551 was a fairly painless punishment for my stupidity!
