I installed my unit a few weeks ago, and I haven't had any skipping issues what-so-ever. I'm using a 2nd Gen ipod Nano with Apple's latest firmware.

And I'd add, if all the ipod adapter makers got together and pooled their knowledge, they could make one good unit.

Right now, no unit has an advantage in every area over another. It's kind of sad.

This is not good to hear. I'll get in contact with them this week and see what happens. Otherwise, I am extremely pleased with this unit. It's very user friendly and interfaces quite well with the existing controls. Just, once a day, I get this skip.

No Issues at all

I have had the HON2Y for about 2 months now and have never had any problems with it. It is a newer unit that has Hybrid mode. This is how I have it set. I am also running my Sirius radio head though the Aux port and I have to say I am very happy with it. Both Sirius and my 80Gb ipod work flawlessly with no skipping issues to report.

Thank god because it was a Bit@$ to install.

I also have the new "Hybrid" unit; however, according to the instruction manual I cannot put my unit into "Hybrid" mode because I am using an iPod Touch. Wonder if there is something about that mode that alleviates this problem on other versions of the iPod.

Anyone know the potential ramifications of flipping those dip switches into Hybrid mode? Do I run the risk of frying my iPod Touch?

I just made a purchase on this unit, and i didn't do research on it. Right now i feel like I should cancel my order. Also, Are all the new units that are selling right now, are they all Hybrid units?

I believe they are all hybrid units; mine is and it was purchased just a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure yet whether there is something in the Touch that is bringing this problem out since others are having no problems at all with non-Touch iPods.

Overall, I am really happy with the unit; it's just that once a day I have this happen. More annoying than problematic. Don't give up yet.

Oh Hopefully the one that i purchased is one of the hybrid units, bought it from discountcarstereo.com.

I purchased the unit becuase i mainly need an aux input for the dvd player. I also have the iphone so having the ipod adapter is good. i was wondering if there be any problem occuring on the long run if i use the iphone.

Don't know about the iPhone. Here's a thread that discusses the installation of an iPhone with the Dice unit (rather than the USA Spec): https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174364

I recently installed my Hon2y unit and have not had skipping as bad as some other posters. I had a weird skip happen after making a right turn. I am thinking of disabling hybrid mode and letting the ipod do all the controls, after all there is no way the Acura can replicate the Ipod interface ;-) But the unit has been somewhat reliable, although I would have to wait for the alternation between "Ok to disconnect" and the main screen about 8-10 times when connecting the ipod (30GB Video) to the cable.

pa11hon2y - infrequent skipping

I had the pa11hon2y installed October-2008 on my 2004 TL for use with my 5.5G iPod Video (5.5G iPod = 5G iPod with brighter screen). Like many others, iPod playback periodically cuts out for about 2 seconds, and a static noise comes in over the speakers that sounds like someone set a needle down on an old school record player. The frequency is maybe once every 3-4 days. I drive about 45 minutes per day, so this is not a huge issue, but still a little annoying.

I did a search and could not find any posts describing a fix for this issue. Has anyone identified a resolution to this issue? Thanks -Kris

I have yet to find one. I've kind of just decided that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks at this point.

I had a fix for it and posted it several times in this thread, call up USA-SPEC and ask for a new cable that connects to your IPOD, a cable that is loose will cause this. I did that and for almost 8 months i have had 0 skipping.

If its just a loose cable, why would we need a new one? Or are most of the cables just faulty? Do they charge you for a new cable?
