New TL Owner Questions
New TL Owner Questions
Greetings all,
Just bought an '05 WDP/Parchment TL w/Navi. Love the car! I'm typically a German car kind of guy, but comparible Audi or BMW are $10k more. And the TL has better styling anyway.
Couple newbie questions:
Have a Bluetooth phone (Moto v710) paired up just fine, but the only time the display shows the signal strength and battery level is when you go into the Handsfree link. I prefer to have the trip meter and outside temparature up, but the signal/battery disappears. I'd really like it on the navi or upper display. Is that just the way it is?
Any way to get outside temp on the Navi or upper display?
Does the FM tuner do RDS (Radio Data Service) which scrolls artist/title/station info. My '99 Expedition does this, as well as a Sony headunit I have ffrom a few years back. Did Acura leave this out??
The CD Player doesn't seem to do CD-Text either?? For such an advanced car this seems to be an oversight. CD-Text has been around for a long time. Again my two other cars radios will display CD-Text that you put on a burned CD.
Does anyone use the voice commands regularly? They are pretty novel, and fun to show up, but pushing buttons seems much quicker. :-) Too bad it doesn't do voice recognition of addresses!
Love the Bi-Xenons, and LED taillights!
Thanks!

answers to your questions:
1. just the way it is
2. no
3. no RDS
4. no CD-Text
There have been many complaints on this board about #3 and #4
5. I don't use the voice commands that often. Sometimes for XM channels so I don't have to scroll around

cd-text is only available with mp3 or another type of compressed audio, standard lossless cds/dvdas don't contain artist/song info so there is nothing for the player to display.
I agree, RDS should have been included.

I think you might be thinking of some other type of tag information with mp3 files. CD-TEXT is a feature that is available on standard CDs. I have many standard CDs with CD-TEXT. I have not run across a DVD-A yet that has any type of CD-TEXT or similar display of artist/song title.

"what time is it?"
"how far until destination?" (works if there's a destination on the navi)
"xm channel ###"
"xm channel up/down"
"temperature ## degrees"
"cd play disc (1-6) track ##"
"home" (works if you programmed a home address. password screen may come up if one is set
"find nearest (gas station/atm/japanese restaurant/acura dealer)"
"massage back" <~~~~ j/k

HFL commands
"redial"
if you're looking for a place with the navi and it has a number, there will be a "send" button on the top right of the screen. you can then call them. i love this feature, specially for calling stores and restaurants
those are the most common commands i use. voice commands are great. having the windows closed also helps
