Nero 7 - 5.1 Surround Sound?
Nero 7 - 5.1 Surround Sound?
It's HOT on internet right now.
- Support for 5.1 and 7.1 audio recording, editing and mixing
- HQ mastering (192KHz) resolution audio supported
- DVD-Audio support
I will post test results as soon as I have the program.

Actuary,
I looked over the literature at Nero and I didn't see anything that specified if it will do DVD-A. Either I missed it OR it may be that the 5.1 and 7.1 will be available for DVD-V. If so then the tool will be of little value specifically for audio disks for the TL. Remember, DD5.1 is primarily used for DVD-V. Many home movie makers have been clamoring for it for their home movies so verify it does high resolution audio DVD-A before you slap down the $$.
Don't get me wrong, Nero has always been a great product and at $99 it is probably a good package. But if DVD-A is your your target then Cirlinca's DVD Audio Solo at $34.99 is worth a look for it's ability to rip CDs directly to DVD-A or to make multi-channel DVD-As of multichannel wav files. Cirlinca also plans to add Meridian Lossless Packing (MLP) compression to their tool in the future. MLP, not DD5.1 is the standard for DVD-A.
And if all you want is stereo tracks and free fits your budget then look here.

Nero website says available on October 26.
Here is the list of features:
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero_7..._Features.html
So far I tried
Extract 5.1 WAV files from DVD-A and crop tracks for a new DVD-A
I can't import 5.1 wav files directly to Nero. I can create 5.1 wave file using "Nero Soundtrax" which I find useless because I am not sitting here and split original 5.1 wav to 6 of 1 channel files then assign them back to each channel so nero reads it. Too much work.
I am trying to figure out what "Nero Digital Audio DVD" is. It sounds like DVD-A to me. However again, it only does 2 channel mp3s not 5.1 channel files.
At this point DVD-Solo @ 34.99 is best program to make 5.1 as well as 2 channel DVD-A discs as Adobeman posted. (but then I tried out nero for free "wink wink")
I am going to try if Nero 7 can do 1:1 copy of original DVD-A discs to DL discs.

Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4X does not read on TL(or at least in 1:1 copy). It reads on my DVD players and computer. TL recognize it as DVD disc but I can't hear any sound even though time is moving on display.
If I can take MP3 files and drag-n-drop into a DVDA, as easily as I can make a CD in Nero, I'm there.
Does anyone know roughly how many songs can fit onto a single DVDA?
Will Nero let you make a DVDA with sections, so I can group songs without having to jump through eighty tracks to get to where I want?
Of course, I want to be able to take my DTS 5.1 CD's and put them onto a DVDA, too. If nothing else, it'll let me put several CD's worth onto one disc. For instance, I have several DTS quadraphonic conversions of old Pink Floyd albums. It'd be great to have them all on one disc! Hopefully, Nero 7 will put that in as an update.
