Need definitive info on Verizon RAZR V3

Does this phone show everything (signal, battery life, roaming, caller ID) etc. Is it fully functional with the TL.

I have searched through the threads and have seen multiple answers.

I am debating between the E815 and RAZR.

Thanks

There is a thread on this same page about some people complaining about the E815

Acura's site says the RAZR supports everything (for what that's worth).

Yes the Verizon v3c RAZR shows everything-signal, battery, caller ID, roaming.

The only issue is sending extra digits from the HFL (for example, voicemail PIN) - the system gets stuck.

You have to enter any extra digits through the phone's keypad.

As far as I can tell the Razr works perfectly.

Caveat - I have never seen 'Roam' on my HFL with the Razr or my previous V710 for that matter, so I cannot verify that it will show up, but everything else (CID, batt., signal) is all there

So the Verizon version of the RAZR shows the battery and the Cingular version doesn't. I guess they upgraded the firmware for the CDMA version and not the GSM version. I wonder if we could get some upgrade for the GSM version to show the battery.

I've got Cingular, although the Razr works great, it doesn't show battery life on the MID. After having the Razr for over a year, I've got to say it's the best cellphone I've ever owned. The test I've used is my Mom's basement. I've had many cellphones over the years, and none ever worked in her basement. I never even tried the Razr because I figured it wouldn't work either. One day, while working in the basement, my Razr rang, suprizing me, so I answered the call and was able to have a normal conversation with no echo's, drop-out's, or static...unbelievable for a phone with an internal antenna.

JetJock, you should bring your phone into a Cingular store and see if there is new firmware out, and if they could upgrade for you. If you've had your phone for a year, I'm sure there is new firmware out for it.

My Cingular Razr is about 6 months old. It does not show the Battery in the car display.

I have tried to send extra digits from the HFL and it works. But it's slow. At least until I get used to it. The car is only a week old.

This is the latest version of Firmware's for the RAZR

Cingular
Motorola V3 RAZR - R374_G_0E.40.9ER

Verizon
Motorola V3c - 01.0F.03P

If you're not at the current rev, then you need to bring into a carrier owned store and have them flash it for you.

Can anyone confirm that the latest Cingular firmware shows the battery?

The Razr from Verizon does show battery life, signal strenght and caller id. I'm not sure about roaming as I have not been outside my local area since I got the phone. I personally think the E815 is a better phone but the size of the Razr won me over. E815 has a longer battery life and I think the reception is a tad better. If you don't mind carrying a bulky phone like the E815, then you should go with this phone.

My wife and I both just purchased the Rzr3 from T-Mobile and its works fabulous. So easy to setup too. I didnt see the battery part. I have to go look again. We added both our phones to our car's bluetooth.

Thanks jmbnova, now I won't have to bother going to a Cingular store to get the latest firmware if it doesn't show the battery.

This should be the lastest version of Cingular RAZR firmware
