Talking isimple ipod adapter in my 04 tl

i was looking for a a way to add the ipod on my 04 TL with out cutting any cables and keeping my warranty on my car, so i visit a few store looking for the best system and they said they could do it but they want to charge me 600 just for the ipod and 800 if i want to have my navigation to play DVD.

so i was on youtube to see how it will look on my car ,and i saw a video about isimple ipod adapter and this also gave me the option to control everything with my steering wheel and also it put the name of the songs on my nav. i saw how to install it and it is was not hard so i look for it on ebay and i found it for 130 it came with the ipod cable and the xm adpter cable but i saw that i could add a dvd also only i need is the DVD player. so i save 640 by doing it myself.

i got it and install it. and i love it no cable cutting easy to install 123 steps to install and you can have your tl play music for a hrs i have it with itouch and it also charged it and i control everything with my steering wheel.:thu mbsup:

Sorry for the old thread up, but does the OP or anyone know what youtube video he was referring to viewing?

Looking for some kind of install tutorial for the isimple or a video showing the use of it with the nav display or steering controls.

Not sure about the video, but the controls are pretty simple. Channel Up / Down = Next/Previous track, Volume Up/Down = Volume buttons. You'll use the cassette buttons on the factory deck to customize settings such as shuffling your playlist and what not.

Nav display doesn't really do anything for the iSimple. Because the iSimple runs through the XM menus, all you will see is the Artist, Song Title, and Duration. It will still be the XM logo on the left (even though it's really an AUX/iPod connection). There isn't a touchscreen button you can press to select songs or change tracks. That is all done by the cassette buttons and the TUNE knob on the factory deck. Once you get the settings to what you desire, it's just a simple plug and play of your iPod/iPhone for every time you get in the car!

It would be so awesome to be able to scroll through your music from the touchscreen, but alas, there isn't an accessory that is able to do so. Also, keep in mind that plugging in your iPod Touch/iPhone with the iPod cable will cause it to go into accessory mode, so if you have an iPod Touch/iPhone, you nor your passenger will be able to select songs from the iPod/Phone itself. You have to tediously look for the song with the TUNE knob. It's not a dealbreaker if you like all your music.. plus it's safer to be able to change your songs through the steering wheel (while the passenger gets to change it through the TUNE knob)

I have the 06 tl and I purchased the USA SPEC Ipod adaptor PA15-HON3. With this you can control the music from the Ipod touch or I phone. the system did have a problem with intermitently rebooting the Navi. They shipped me a replacement controller and I haven't had that problem again (knonk on wood). I got mine from Ipod car pros. I did the self installation, was not hard

It will work..

Also, the iSimple gives you 2 Aux modes. Aux1 (iPod) and Aux2.

If you have nothing connected to Aux 2(Such as a DVD Player), you can scroll to Aux2 and control your iPod manually. It will unlock the screen, BUT you will lose Artist/Song Text display.
