iPhone 4 cannot pair with 05 TL Bluetooth
I have yet to be able to pair my iphone 4 to my TL. i had no issues with my 3GS. I've tried calling the HFL support but didnt get any luck. My phone is running 4.0 OS.
The steps I did were the following -
1. Press phone button on steering wheel - chose pairing option
2. Gave my 4 digit code
3. Bluetooth enabled on my phone - in discovery mode
4. Times out.. no devices found..
help!

I have the same problem with my 06 TL. The dealer said that an update will be transmitted to the 04-07 TL's through the satellite soon to fix the issue. I did not have the heart to tell him that I never heard the TL's being capable of getting firmware updates through a satellite 'push'.
If anyone has a solution, please post because I loved using handsfree.

hmm that's interesting..my iphone 4 paired up with my 05 TL on the first try..the only things I can say is:
1. the bluetooth on the iphone 4 should be turned on
2. Try running 4.0.1 or a higher iOS for the iphone 4 possibly

Same here, I have an 06 no navi and I was on 4.1 when I paired it. Worked perfectly.
Had no problems with my iPhone 2g as well.

X-there are a lot of threads about this. Be sure to use the Search Engine!
When your phone is in the discover mode, you'll see options on the screen of what you're trying to pair. You must highlight HandsFreeLink on your iPhone and THEN put the phone in the discovery mode. Otherwise, the phone and the car will not pair up.

I tried to do what you stated but when I enable Bluetooth my phone goes straight to saying "searching" under devices. I'm not able to highlight or pick HandsFreeLink.
I went to Settings --> General --> Bluetooth --> On
Let me know if I missed something.
My phone is running 4.0.1
so my iphone basically does not detect my hands free in my car when in discovery mode thats why nothing comes up after i enable my bluetooth. im going to try this tonight with my brothers new iphone 4 running 4.2

X-hopefully, once your iPhone sees the HandsFreeLink, then highlight the HandsFreeLink and go to the car for the "handshake". If it's not seeing the HandsFreeLink, try taking it to a dealership and see if they can help.
It may take a few attempts but Stevens' instructions are correct. I have had all iphones except the original and every ios upgrade. All have worked with the HFL, each better than the last. I did have a little trouble paring the ip4 but it works like a charm now. You may have to turn the phone off then on for the car to discover it, same with turning car off/on.
I have had zero upgrades to the HFL software in my 05 Navi TL. I found that my dealer knows very little about operating the system. Do pay attention to the phone screen as you get to choose the source for each transfer. G/L
