iPhone 3G with HFL and Acura Ipod
Can someone that has the new 3G Iphone, tell me if it works with the HFL and the acura installed ipod interface? How is the HFL call quality, etc? I have a 2006 TL. Thanks.
Which model TL do u have? 2006? also, I heard there was an echo... you have not heard any echo when talking? I think the echo was on another car not an acura... just wanted to make sure though, before I get one.
nope, no echo... i made 5-6 calls and had no issues(although i didnt try to do call waiting)... My tl is an 04... although i am having an issue with my PXAMG not charging the new iphone... I also tried it with my wifes pioneer D3 and it wouldnt charge it either...
how about pairing experience? do you have to pair every time or only once? I heard lot of people complaining that they have to pair every time they enter in the car. My current blackberry works perfectly. I have paired it some year ago and it perfectly hookup to my HFL automatically whenever i entered in the car.

I have the new iPhone 3G and it works perfect with my 06' TL / Non-Navi HFL. I only had to pair it once, and it's worked perfect ever since.
I've also NOT experienced any echo issues. Sound quality is good and calls are always solid.
It also looks like the previous owner of my TL had the iPod mod put in. I've tried using it once or twice, and while the iPhone immediately displays an error message saying "it's not compatible", it appears to work just fine. Audio plays through, and im able to control the iPhone through the stereo and steering audio controls.
cheers

I have a problem with 3G iPhone with 05 TL without nav
Hey you might be able to help me out, the problem is that the phone is paired and I can make calls from the from the phone list from the car but when I try to use the iphone's contacts to make a call it won't link up. You know how you can first find the contact that you want to call on your phone call them and then hit the talk button on the steering wheel and then say "transfer", this worked with my old phone (Motorola Razor) but doesn't seem to work with the 3G iPhone. Is there something that I have to turn on or off?
honestly I have not used the "transfer" function at all yet.
if I initiate a call from the iPhone, it pops up a screen that let's me choose which bluetooth headset I want to use. I get 3 options on the iPhone screen:
1. HFL
2. my motorola H700 earpiece
3. the iPhone itself
if I hit the HFL option, it transfers the call over to the HFL. However, here is the catch: it only transfers the call once the call is engaged, meaning the person on the other line has to pick up first before I can transfer. It will not transfer if it's just dialing and getting a ring tone. A little annoying but im dealing with it ok.
I'll test out using the "transfer" voice command option instead and see if it works.
cheers.

i just got the 3g iphone and it paired perfectly the first time. i also have a usaspec ipod adapter but it does not charge the phone. usaspec says on its website that it will have a new cable out in september that will work with the new pin arrangement on the 3g iphone.
beware, looks like the latest 2.02 firmware for the iPhone 3G screws up bluetooth so that it won't stay paired with HFL once you turn of your car.
My shit was working perfect until I updated to firmware 2.02....grrrrrr

ok, so looks like there is a fix. someone else posted this on another forum somewhere and it worked.
here's what to do.
1. once you update to 2.02 on your iphone, unpair it from the HFL completely.
2. re-pair the iphone to HFL.
3. once you've re-paired it. make an outbound call.
4. after your outbound call, have someone call you (inbound call)
5. once your done with both calls, power off the iphone.
6. power it back up and confirm that it is still paired.
7. now turn off the car, wait about 10-15 seconds, turn it back on and you should still be paired.
I went through these exact steps last night and it worked for me. I walked to my car this morning to go to work and she was still paired up

Transfer or setting HFL when making a call
I'm having this same issue and it's very annoying. It's embarrassing because the person on the other end sometimes hangs up because I can't hear them. It is totally unreliable for me. Even using the "transfer" doesn't work very well either. I'm going to try the suggestion to unpair and pair it again.

My Iphone3g has been working perfectly since I paired it to the car about 1 month ago. They only issue I have is that the volume for the calls over HFL is very low - I have to crank the volume into the 20's to hear someone while I'm driving, but then the menu voice and beeps are so loud they scare the shit out of me if I don't remember to turn the volume down. I love that the iphone let's you pair to more than 1 device at a time and then you can choose once the call is initiated. I also notice that the Iphone appears to have an extremely long blue-tooth connection distance. I moved my car out my driveway this morning and it showed to be paired with the iphone that was in my bedroom! Well over 50ft away.
Does any Iphone3g TLer out there have the same issue with the volume? I've got an 06 BTW.

yea, the volume thing is the same for me. the first time I ended a call and you get the two-tone beep at the end, I though I shit my pants it was soo freaking loud...
I don't know if there is any way to calibrate the HFL volume seperate from the system/stereo volume...

I don't have that problem with my iPhone 3g. Seems to be fine with volume at 20 and the beeps are not that loud at all.
BTW, I have 2.0.2 installed and no problem with pairing with HFL.
I want to install either a USA Spec or DICE adapter (2005 TL with Nav) but want to make sure it will charge the iPhone. I'm gonna call USA Spec and DICE to verify if they can charge the iPhone 3g yet.

yea, I didn't have the pairing problem either after immediately upgrading to 2.02. It wasn't till a few days (or I think a week later) that something triggered it.
if it crops up, just go through the steps listed above and it will fix it immediately.
cheers.

I've been also trying to figure out the fix for the volume issue with the bluetooth on this phone. Its not just pairing with the HFL its also when you pair to regular bluetooth headsets same problems with volume being too low. What gives?
While connected to a BT device, such as the HFL, you can use the volume buttons on the side of the iPhone to adjust the volume on the BT device. I have mine set to maximum and it's a good match for my other audio sources, such as XM and CD.

had just doing a re-pairing worked, that's all I would have posted. but I tried it numerous times when the problem started and doing a simple re-pair didn't help at all.
it took those exact steps to fix it. and for the record those exact steps were found on another site where another user did the exact same thing.
if a simple re-pair worked for you, great. otherewise, the above fix worked for me and a few others.
Im updating my phone now to 2.1, we'll see if poses any issues...
cheers
Regarding the volume issue, no need to adjust the volume for your HFL, just on the iPhone. For some reason, it maintains whatever volume you last used it at, so if you were just using the phone (away from the car) and had it at mid or low-level, the next time it linked to the HFL and you got a call in the car, it would keep the low volume on the phone. I tried adjusting it on the phone and it works to up the volume so i could hear the caller properly, without having to adjust my HFL volume. A bit of an annoyance that you have to up it for using in car and turn it down for using the phone by itself so you don't get deaf.

New Problems with the iPhone 3G on the 2007 TL Type S
After updating to 2.1 I can't dial contacts. As soon as I touch the screen it doesn't work just goes grey. This is also true when I dial contacts in my address book.
Anyone else??
