Gauge/Instrument Upgrade?

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the instrument panel in the 2004 TL to the newer one with tire pressure sensors, multifunction display, and the new gauge style used in the 2007+ TL? Also is there any other upgrades that could be done such as the new steering wheel and anything else that may have been changed or upgraded? Lastly is it still possible to get the A-tune done?

I forgot something, could I have the new bumper fog lights installed and replace the old ones with the new daytime running lights?

for the guages, no, the wiring is different and the controls have been relocated to the steering wheel, so that means both must be done together, so just on parts you would be spending quite a bit:

Here are some figures that I know off the top of my head:
Gauges: 600
Air-bag- 600
Steering wheel - 350
New cable reels, rewiringing stuff etc - 400
TPMS - 200 for sensors
TPMS unit - 600
TPMS wiring - 200+

You can do this, you will need the 03-05 honda accord fog lights. Basically what you will have to do is run the existing plugs down to the new ones, and make a new one for the existing lights and wire them to the ignition at a reduced voltage for DRLs.

Hmmm...looks like it isn't worth it. Anyway do you know if there were any differences between the older and newer MFDs besides tire pressure or is that it? Lastly about the fog lights, do you think that project is worth it? Do the newer/bumper fogs perform any better and in your opinon are daytime lights really a big deal? Lastly could I get one of those switchblade keys and reprogram it for my car, and do the pre-2007 TLs open all windows and the sunroof by pressing unlock multiple times on the remote, if not could that be reprogrammed to do so? Thanks.

Just realized something. if I could not change the entire panel to the newer one, do you know where I can get custom basic gauges for the current panel? One more thing, could I change the mirrors to the newer ones with the turning signal built in? I know this is weird but I'm may get a 2004 TL and I would like to make seem as new as possible.

The mirrors you can do, and minor wiring is required to make them blink, i think two wires need to be just tapped. For the gauge back-ground, I don't think anyone makes them...

The TPMS and guage isn't worth it, its to much $$$, for a little more you can get the real deal. the new MID is different, it is high res., has the TPMS function and additional functions for the auto headlamps, wiper speeds, etc.

The fogs are worth it only if you want to run HID fogs and have DRL's. I personally don't find a need for those fog-lights in the lower bumper, 2 reasons, 1 with an 04-06 TL you will be blinding everyone with 6 lights on, 2 is that it reduces performance on the 04-06 since the air has to go around the fog light to be sucked in to the intake.

All 3G tl's have the function of being able to roll down the windows. Press unlock twice, then press again and hold down for a bit. As you are holding down the windows should roll down. As far as the switchblade keys, the group buy for the keys I am making is closed right now. you can visit www.switchbladekeys.com if you wish to see if there are any left-over keys.

Once again thanks for your help. I guess your right about the MID, small differences that really don't matter, heck I could care less about using it to set wiper speeds, and auto headlights, I have no problem with flipping a switch like normal for the headlights, I should just be happy if I can actually get a TL soon. I'll just look around for those keys.

Good Lord, I just remembered something else, does the ELS sound system in the 04 have an iPod or aux. connection? If not can one be installed on the original system?

No, 04 does not have an iPod jack. Start doing some searches. You may find that you will get better results than the brief answers you are getting here.
