Infinity tweeter size compatibility. Please Help.

I have a 2005 tl, and i see a lot of old threads on here about the infinity tweeters being very good. I just wanted to know if the newest model would work or because of its 3/4" size, would i have to stay with the previous 1" model. Infinity 1031t 1" tweeters upgraded to Infinity REF-075tx 3/4" tweeters.

Thank you.

I can't see why they wouldn't fit but the 1" ones fit great, just a few dabs of epoxy to the stock tweeter cover, solder the crossovers to the tweeter, and then solder to the car, and pop them back in place. 3/4" should work but you might want to shim it with a small piece of plastic so you don't need a ton of epoxy.

I just looked those up, the newer ones go for about $100 vs $40 for the 1". If you're using the stock amp I'd save your money. Even if you are gonna run a separate amp I'd still save the money.

The size refers to the size of the dome, not the physical size of the whole tweeter. A 3/4" dome might have the same outer diameter as the 1" dome, both are probably close to 2" OD. Either can have advantages. Typically a 3/4" won't play as low but it will play higher before beaming making it less important to mount the tweeters on axis.

If you do some more research you will probably find that people might like the Infinity tweeters at first but nearly everyone ends up swapping them out. They're harsh and bright and not detailed. A very fatiguing non SQ tweeter. I gave mine away. Once you hear what a good tweeter sounds like you will never go back to Infinity. I made the mistake everyone else made, associating bright and harsh with detailed and they were anything but detailed.

I heard a co-worker's all Infinity system the other day, he was proud and kept asking to show it off. It was so hard to hold a straight face when listening to it. It reminded me of my own years ago. I wanted out of the vehicle so bad.

^^ This is coming from a guy that probably has one of the best tweeters made for car audio. Of course everything else is going to sound bad
LOL just playin with ya. Some people don't mind the infinity tweeters I think a lot of it depends on the type of music and volume. For my tastes I thought they are a little too bright and harsh as well.
Btw check out my sig. I'm still waiting for Neibur to get me deal on those 650's though.

While Infinity might not be suitable for real audiophiles I'd argue that most people will find them to be up upgrade over stock. I've used other Infinity speakers in the past and they were never the best thing I've heard but most people thought they were great. The price is right and they're not absolute junk. Not everybody is gonna spend a few hundred on tweeters or speakers or want to do a custom install.

I agree. They are a big improvement over the stock tweets for sure and a great bargain for the money to boot... but they are near the bottom of the food chain when it comes to after market stuff.

I've had everything from the current Dyns that retail for nearly $2k to the Infinities and lots in between. I'm not comparing the Infinities to my Dyns due to the price difference. But the infinities compared to something in the same price range such as the ID CTX65 the IDs were worlds better. For a little extra money Morel makes some great tweeters along with many others.

I made the Infinity mistake and I liked them too for a little while because I associated harsh and bright with detailed and that was wrong. Once you try a different brand you'll see how the tweeter is the star of the show in a good system and how terrible the Infinities are.

The Infinities are crossed very high, somewhere north of 5khz. That's not what you want in a 2-way when the very off axis door speakers are well into beaming and have to try and cover what the tweeters should be covering.
