Question How to directly wire a Garmin Nuvi to battery/fuse box?

I know they do not sell any direct wires for Garmin Nuvi's (like you would find for an Escort Passport) but I also know Best Buy will do it for you for 50 bucks or so. The guy told me they use the cigarette lighter adapter and I assume by just splicing it and connecting it to the fuse box, but I have no idea how to do this. There is a great post regarding how to set up the Escort Passport direct wire to the fuse box here, https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...irect+passport, so I know where the fuse box is and everything, but have no idea how to splice and/or connect the Garmin Nuvi to it directly. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it!

You have kinda answered your own question in a way. You can splice the DC adapter wire right into your cigarette lighter, that makes sense. No need to worry about the fuse box, the Garmin can't draw much. Check some threads about how people sourced power for other mods like DVD players, V1s, etc. it's all done the same way. There is nothing complicated about it. You just have to figure a route of how to run the wires and which panels have to come out. If you still have no idea how to do any of this then it probably would be worth it to have someone else do it for you. If they are willing to do it $50 that ain't bad at all. That's like 1/2 hr. labor. It will take you much longer.
