How to crack OK button the old school way
OK Button patch timeframe
The patch will be released within 3-4 days. I need to do some testing. Meanwhile, I hacked up a quick summary page and the patch will be published there. I'll post a note in the forum when it is ready.

one question, will this work for us that have the 3.30G cd? The other patch you made for the trip computer was 531bytes too big for it to be relpace. Just thought you might want to know

Think big
How about some social engineering? How about obtaining the source code from Alpine (of course, along with the docs, datasheets, chartflows and system architecture) and start improving on that? May I not continue and just leave your imaginations figure out the endless possibilities?
I encourage starting a thread where everyone could express their wildest desires (of course, within the poor SH4s capabilities). Post a link when and if such thread will exist.
If you feel like bashing, please do it on another subject besides the so-called "implications". Thaaaaaaanks!
PS - to AngryDaddy - you taste very much like Microsoft with its Vista release here... at least they dump out betas and RCs every so often. I surely do appreciate your efforts so far and am impressed by your thoroughness whereas you test your release for a long period to make sure it's working ok. Need any beta-testers?

This is really a great and appreciated accomplishment AngryDad. Now someone needs to make a wizard UI where you can select the tweaks you want and the nag screen text changes and it will automatically make the changes to the code and spit out the .bin files needed.

When one of you totals your car, let me know. I'd be interested in getting a hold of the navi unit to play with.

Have you been able to get a WinCE command prompt on it? Run Regedit on it? Have you tried inserting a PC card network interface card and attemtping a remote connection?

Oh, I have plenty of patience. I should have said, as soon as you get the patch posted and I get it working on my car, I will be sending you a donation. I was even tempted to do it today!
I definitely give you 2

The patch is for 3.50 but I have 3.40c in my car. I was able to "trim" the patched 3.50 file to fit within the 3.40c bin.
If you have 3.40c you would need to use the HMImanager.exe from the link below...
http://www.savefile.com/files/56150
the password is "kennyc"
This will not work with <3.40c.

It comes with instructions on how to use it.
Another Link
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DSNY25MW
for CEBin.zip. I believe it is the same file that is accessable via the above link. I think this does the same thing as dumpnavi.exe.
From one of the included files
# Replacing "wakeup screen" image in Acura TSX navi
#trace on
image %NAVI_HOME%\BN2HN18B.BIN
verbose on
echo Warning: the sizes of new and old files MUST be the same!
echo You were warned!
replaceFile Back.bmp NewWakeupScreen.bmp
saveToFile %NAVI_HOME%\BN2HN18B.NEW

Somebody should compile all your patches into a single executable

However, the cebin program will let you replace the file within the bin with bigger sized file.
So in your case, forget about triming the file. You would need to learn how to use cebin instead.
i tried for about 30 min witht he instructions give.
first i imaged my file BN2HH12C.BIN with cebin
second i extracted BN2HH12C.BIN with dumpnavi and put in the new HMIManager.exe file
Now what do i do?

1. copy all 9 bin files off your navigation dvd
2. use cebin to cram the patched HMIManager.exe into the BNHH401A.bin
3. burn all 9 files onto a cd/dvd
4. load the disc into navigation
Angrydad is there anything that can be done about the PC card? I know I have no clue, but is there any possible way to make it so that you could add mp3's to the card and play it through the audio system.....with minor tweeks to the system?

No need to burn all nine. Burn BN2HHMLD.BIN (loader application) plus the image for your vehicle (BNHH401A.bin in this case).

I completely agree that it's too high!!
Many people have tried making backup copies of the disc and get the "Invalid Disc" message. I'll try making a copy and doing the load trick you're talking about. If we can do this, I'll gladly host ISO copies of the latest Navi disc for download. If you can patch the HMIManager.exe that is...
I guess we'd have to load a patched HMIManager.exe via CD and THEN put in the copied DVD-DL right?

Here are some links:
Dreamcast MP3 player
Steps that Dreamcast users went through to play mp3s
Another mp3 player called DreamBee
Visual C++ Project Wizard for Dreamcast
Whole list of audio/video applications for dreamcast
Sourceforge page for one of the players, DCPlaya
I really hope that some of this is helpful. Sorry if it's not and i'm just getting myself and others excited about nothing. Maybe it will cut down on some of the work that might be required.
Let me know if I can help out in anyway.

1. Download dcmp3 player (first link above) and unpack it somewhere.
2. pack (using cebin) all DLL files into your BIN file.
3. Rename player application to TripComputer.exe and pack it into BIN.
4. boot navi and go to trip computer.
5. Share your experience here.
