I agree! That thing is hideous! Maybe Honda doesn't pay Alpine the way BMW does...

If you don't mind AngryDad, PM me with info on how to get setup and I'll dig around the new software for answers. thanks in advance and great work so far!

Meh ... mine did the usual "What the heck kind of file is that?" routine. And I have WinXP Pro Media Center Edition! Must be a codec thing.

Way to go AngryDad!

I tried but didn't get as far as you have with the reverse engineering of the exe files. You rock, I am anxiously awaiting your patch release.

I'm down to support this for some $. I know back when I was unlocking phones on Nextel, people would always donate since they knew I was doing something on my free time for them. I think donations should be made for Angrydad once this is released. After looking at that video I can't wait to be able to do this!

Angrydad is this something you could burn and send to us? I have a Mac, so I'm not sure if I can do this stuff on my machine. I'd definately pay more for that!

lembowski,

One of us could supply you with an ISO of the patch (not the whole Navi DVD) and with that you could burn a CD.

What I should probably do is lock the patch to a serial number of the navi unit and prepare for the retirement.

I think the bill should be sent to Acura/Alpine and they should pick up Angrydads for actually designing something so stupid. But I'd definatly cough over a few bucks for his effort either way, annxiously awaiting this one!

It is not stupid. The nag serves two purposes:

1. It makes very hard for you to win a lawsuit against Acura for crashing while being distracted by navi screen.

2. It should go to sleep and won't spin your dvd until you hit the OK button (thus extending the life of the laser and the DVD drive). I haven't checked this, but if it doesn't do that, I retract my words in regards to "not stupid".

By chance have you seen the latest generation of Navi files? The TL is the last car to have this old generation. The new disc now contains the following files:

06Jog.bin
06Jog2.bin
06Touch.bin
06Touch2.bin
A0000_00.MNG
DCA0.reg
PRG_INFO.MNG
UPDATE_APL.exe
VRDB.bin

I would appreciate any help with those also and I am sure the TSX, Accord, and Civic guys would also. Let me know if you don't mind and I can get you anything you need.

Question for you AngryDad,

I am not sure exactly what these mods do to the computer code and the list of potentials is growing.

Will this "patch" work with other mods like the "enable trip computer natively" mod? What about those two and the bitmap mod?

I guess the answer may depend on each individual mod and what it does. Again, I don't really know though.

Oh, and I'm in for offering a few beers also.

Thanks

All three are absolutely independent, so the answer is yes.

Angrydad, any time frame on the patch release? Are you looking into the welcome-screen-direct-to-map solution?

Thanks!

Also i wonder if its possible to make it go right to the audio screen instead of the map, and still bypass the OK so when u click map u don't have to click OK.

my friend's honda civic's navigation is sorta that way... if he doesn't press ok, the background changes to like black screen with stars (night sky view??) and digital clock in the center

I'd love to have it go directly to the audio screen too. That's what I want it on 90% of the time.

Could someone point me in the correct thread that describes the process to allow the nag text to be modified like Desert TL did in post #29 of this thread?

Technically possible, but I am not spending another 10 hours for something that will benefit 5 people.
