This hopefully confirms my diagnosis that it is the amplifier.

I have an 06 with the 07+ navi and hfl and tho its been installed since nov 09 i just noticed this winter the high pitched squeal. I've also noticed the dead battery i get if the car sits for 2 days and the melted frost/snow etc in the upper center portion of the windsheild. So i removed the HFL unit yesterday to see if the electrical engineer i work with can diagnose if and or which cap is bad. i have checked all the caps on the HFL board and none seem to be shorted. ANYHOW this morning i go start up the car in the extremely cold and snowing indiana weather and absolutely NO high pitched squeal that was very loud and obnoxious that ive heard every other day since the extreme cold began. Makes me think it has to do with the HFL. Maybe the others that have this squeal could unplug their HFL units as well to see if that does the trick for you also? Then repost here so we can determine if its a different issue like the amp or what not.

So it seems there is a fix for 04-06 HFL's but not for the 07-08. IF i can get it figured out ill let you all know what i did and what part was replaced. Or even offer a repair service since i work in electronics and soldering of circuit boards etc including surface mount.

07/08 HFL unit, 1 board vs 2 on the 04-06:

I had high pitched squeal a few times on my stock 08 Accord Coupe EX-L w/Navi. Only occurred twice in 2 years.

same issue here..

hi guys, i'm having the same issue here. i get static noise when the car is cold. after 10 or 15 minutes; when the car is warmed it goes away. it does it in all of the audio sources. HFL, CD, Radio, Etc. have an 07 TL-S. i took it to the dealer but they did not do anything. i'm taking it back since it's under warranty. it did not have this problem before; so i don't think its normal. and even if it had it, it's not normal. i have a feeling that it might be the amplifier. i don't think it's a tints issue because like i said, i did not have this problem before. i'll report back the dealer findings.

Did anyone figure this out?

I just got an '04 TL and have this issue. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to go away after the car has warmed up. Did anyone figure anything out here? It seems the possibilities were the amplifier or the HFL unit...

You guys need to check the technical service bulletins at the following link:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/acura-servicenews-bulletins-588838/

I'm not sure which year or month it was, but, there is definitely a TSB for this and it most definitely could be your HFL. The solution is as simple as cutting a couple of wires. My problem was the HFL unit and the TSB cured it.

Again, not sure which month and year so you will need to click through each one until you find it but it's definitely in there.

Thanks 95oRANGEcRUSH - The link you mentioned was for the Acura Service News - lol - I spent like an hour reading through all of them, but they were all interesting nonetheless. For others, the TSBs can be found here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/

and the TSB 95oRANGEcRUSH was referring to is 07-013. Unfortunately, that is not what is going on in my case as I removed the HFL and the noise was still present. An Acura tech did a bunch of troubleshooting and determined the amp was bad, similar to what happened to the individual from this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=802098

In my case I've got the annoying high pitched noise as described in this thread, as well as a much more annoying lower pitched noise that changes with engine speed. Both are only present while the engine is running, so I'm not sure the high pitched noise is the one due to cold weather or not, since it stops when I turn the engine off. In any case, I'll be looking for a used working OEM amp...

It's the Factory Amp

First, Your welcome.

Second, it's the factory amp.

Let me save all of you.

1 remove the factory amp located below and to the right of glove box. (Look up online how to, super easy)

2 open the amp, super easy. 4 screws on each end then 4 along the side. Then the circuit board just slides out.

3 there will be a bunch of cold solders on the back of the board. Pretty much little nipple connections that are soldered that have cracked and weakened.

4 with a soldering iron you can get anywhere for $30 and a little bit of thin solder, apply more solder to these cracked weak points to strengthen the contact. Be careful and a little bit goes a long way. Don't over do it.

5 clean up your mess. And re assemble.

6 do a little dance.

Took me 20 min from start to finish. Maybe 30. Very simple.

Eric

I had this noise problem as well, though it was at all temperatures, not just when it was cold. I also had lost about 95% of my sound volume in the last few months.

The post above about bad solder joints may help some people, but I found I had to replace all the 5mm electrolytic capacitors. All 27 of them. It took maybe an hour or two and wasn't particularly tricky. Let me know if you want me to do a howto on the procedure. Anyone with a soldering iron should be able to do it.

Sure, if you can put something together that would be great. I need to try something soon, the buzz is driving me nuts!
