Hid reverse wiring

so im been trying to figure out wiring guage size. im going to run a set of hid reverse light and would like to know what gauge of wire i should use for my constant 12v. it will run from the front of the car to the trunk where the reverse lights are at. from what i read, hid kit takes 30amp to start up.

I'd go with at least 14awg. See chart in this link:

30 amps WTF.

the usual is 6 amps start-up and 4 running.

14 is fine 16 is good. i would do 14 tho. read the ballast. it should tell you starting amps and running amps i believe.

x2 ballasts = 6x2 = 12 amps... but it all depends on the manufacturer of the HID kit. Some are more efficient than others.

I would do a 10 awg. and then do the wires to the ballasts (after the relay) in 14 awg. (Safety First)...

rodney has it right. the ballast does take 6 amp each and maybe a little more. would it be safe to do it in 12 gauge wire? i have a spool of those at home. also rodney i believe you have hid rear also right?

14 should be fine.

Rodney cheated. he used his amp wire and connected his relays to it

I so want to do this mod but thinking of having to run a wire from the battery all the way back is keeping me from doing it. do you have to take a lot of the interior parts off to acomplish this? Anyone in houston willing to help
