HFL connection with Palm Treo 750 dropping

So this phone is paid for by work so I have to use it, and today I received a call and about 5 minutes into it, the HFL was lost but the call was still on the phone. I had to pick the phone up and finish the conversation. I thought that was weird so I called someone else and sure enough, about 5 minutes into it, the HFL was lost and I had to pick up the phone to finish talking.

So is this a HFL roblem, or a Palm treo problem?

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem before?

Thanks for any help!

I know this isn't going to help very much, but I've seen it both ways.

I currently have an LG 7800 (I think - it's the brushed silver one) - this phone loses connection with the HLF maybe once a week? I notice it because it's wither the battery or the signal strength indicator on the dash will go away. It's one or the other - but 1 stays.

As for the Treo - I used to have the 700. Nothing but problems with the operating system on the phone freezing up. I generally found that if I pulled the battery from the phone, it reset everything and was fine for a while. Unfortunately it was usually 3-4 times a week that i had to reset the phone.

My immediate thoughts are it's an issue with the treo. Wierd little quirks are what made me get rid of it. I.e. phone rings, but you cannot answer it, the phone freezes, etc. But since I am having this problem with another phone as well - it could be the HLF.

Sorry for the non-answer, but hopefully this will give you some info

i got a 06 TL with a treo 755p, never had the same issue that you have but i do have the issue of when i get in to my car from time to time it locks up and says i'm using the phone.. i try to end the call from the stearing wheel but that dont work. I have to go into the phone and disable the bluetooth connection. What i read is it is a phone software thing, not the car issue??? but then again i could be wrong

No you are right it is a phone software problem.

The treo drops a bluetooth connection for some reason. I am in the same boat as p604 and basically had to turn the handsfree off because it was so annoying. Some calls were fine and then the next would not even connect.

Check out www.handsfreelink.com, and see if your phone is even approved for the HFL system. If it is not approved it means that it is either being tested, or it failed the compatibilty test. Failed phones may still pair, but you may have problems. (That's why it failed..lol)

Thanks for the link. That's pretty cool. I didn't even know that existed. I just checked and my phone is compatible with the HFL. I think what I need to do is have the blue tooth off when I get in the car and start it and then turn the blue tooth on the phone on and let the car find it. I've tried that the last few times and I've had no problems. It's when the blue tooth is already on on the phone and I just get in the car, the problems occur. Hopefully that'll work.

I have a Treo 755p with Verizon and no such problems with it. Same thing with the Treo 650 I had before I upgraded. I suspect there's something wrong with your HFL.

What year is your TL? Mine is an '04 with the HFL module that has a date before 8/14/04 that everyone says has problems, so maybe I should talk to the dealer about getting it replaced?

I have an 05. Check with your dealer and see if he can upgrade your HFL software or replace the whole system.

having a palm phone is tricky specially from 2 different carriers. I have had treo for years upgrading all the time. The issue is not with the car it self its with SPRINT treo's being compatble with HFL. I have contacted sprint and they are aware of the issue (they say) but guess we (Sprint treo owners) are gonna have to wait for the next sprint treo update.. if one comes out

couldn't you just get a verizon treo since they are both CDMA phones?
my last one(700w) and current(755P) both work(but no phone book transfer )
