Help wit speakers!!!!

so i have polk audio speakers for the front and rear and i'm powering it with a 4 channel amp. i kept my headunit so i got a line out converter. tapped into the wires then got the rcas running to the amp. but when i power it up, i cannot get both rear speakers to play. anyone know what i might be doing wrong?
also i feel like my stocks were louder than my current polks. is not normal?

thanks for the help. me and my friend have been trying to figure it out but couldn't find the solution.

Assuming it worked before did you rule out a bad RCA?

Sounds like the volume is being affected by the other problem.

Whats the condition of the amp and converter? are you sure they are working properly?

i don't think it's a bad rca since it's brand new and it happened from the moment we wired everything up. any other ideas? am i tapping into the wrong wires?
i just read threads and it says stock speakers are 6 1/2 or around there. i have a 5 1/4 could that be the reason why it lacks sound?

I dont think so... just so I am clear all of the equipment is new... correct?

and the gains/eq's are adjusted at the amp... right?

yeah. everything was brand new, fresh off a box. did the install and that's when we ran into problems. First we realized that we tapped into the wrong wires, then we tapped into the wires on the amp and still had the problem.
and about the speaker size, is that the reason for the lack of loudness?

I dont think the speaker size is an issue here...

I would try isolating the problem... you have 5 pieces 1. the head unit, 2. the converter 3. the amp 4. the wires and 5 the speakers

I'd work my way from the head unit by hooking a test speaker to the head unit... make sure all channels work right by moving the fade/balance around on the deck and moving the speaker ... (you can connect the speaker at the input of the converter)

then if that checks out... I would check each channel of the amp with the same speaker... if that checks out

then its the speakers or the wires.

assuming you have something like this

Its a two channel converter, so to get all 4 speakers to play you'd have to tie front and rear together... meaning no side to side fade and only two channels out of the amp.

if you have this:

you get all four in and all four out...

Sorry I cant see what you see, I am doing a lot of assuming here.

ok cool, so you got 4 channels so nothing should be tied together.

But you will have a lot of gain adjustments on that and the amp.

quick question... how are you turning the amp on via the remote wire?

And you did ground the converter, right?

ok well it sounds like you have decent parts... make sure you have a good ground for everything and then check every piece.

It may be a simple turn of one of those gain switches... you have to fine tune everything.

But no wires should be crossed going into that converter.

i install the polk 651s front and real with a amp. They sound decent, better than the stock but the volume was a little higher. now i amp them with a alpine f300 50w rms 4ch (very small amp) and they sound to darn loud (in a good way). It was well worth it.

Did you check if the negative and positive wires are hooked up correctly?

Still new on figuring all this out, but just wondering if using 4 ohm speakers would cause a problem with low volume.
Could someone use the Peripheral 2 channel converter pictured above, and wire up 4 ohm seperates up front? Would using 4 ohm speakers in our 2 ohm system work?
