hardwire radar detector

Just hardwired my radar detector and it was so worth it! I hated having the wire run across the whole center. Its a nice clean look and was extremely easy to do. Would definitely suggest to anyone who has the same dilemma I had.

Many pics and install instructions in the 3G Garage.

Yes, I agree having your detector hardwired is the only way to roll. The remote display is also a must if you have a V1.

I did mine the first day I had the car almost two years ago. Best thing I ever did...the only time I take it down is when my car goes to the tire shop or the dealer for warranty work. It's very discreet up there just peeking below the tint strip. I just pulled out the console up there and wired it to the 12V for the sunroof.

Still have to take some pics of it but heres what I did. I took apart the center console area and the radio. I ran the wire from the radar detector down the window to the feet area drivers side and brought it up into the center console where i wired it to the cigarette lighter adapter hook up there because I couldnt get to the other one right under the radio. Very easy to do and having the radar detector mounted low I figured this was the best way. So now it goes on when the car is on which is just perfect.

I loved getting my accessory outlet back AND being able to shut the lower cabinet.

I wired mine into the power window fuse...the window lock switch acts as an on/off switch.

Detectors can only do so much against protecting from lasers. Your only chance is if you can pick up some scatter from other cars ahead of you otherwise your f00ked. My best advice is to get a quality radar jamer such as the Blinder and get Viel on your headlights along with a detector. To find out more what I am talking about:

Where did you mount your radar detector? Do you have any info or source for how to take a part the console?

I just bought an Escort 8500 X50. Looking for ideas to semi-permanently mount the unit plus hard wiring it.
