Hacked the Navigation - Will it void my warranty?
I couldn't wait to hack the start up screen on my wife's new/used 2007 TL S. After my success I got to wondering; Will this void what's left of my warranty in any way shape or form or should I put it back to stock until the warranty is up?
Nah, you can always reset it beforehand if you have to bring it in.
If it's the unit itself you are having the problem, then you'd want to go back to the dvd anyway to make sure it wasn't the hack causing the problem.

Mine is a 2007 and the navigation DVD was 4.55A. Here are the steps I followed and borrowed some from this and other websites:
Step 1: Remove the white navigation DVD from the car, make a note of the name of the DVD as displayed on the computer's DVD drive, copy the following files to a dedicated folder on your computer's hard drive:
07Jog2.bin
07Jog.bin
07Touch2.bin
07Touch.bin
A0000_00.MNG
DCA0.REG
PRG_INFO.MNG
UPDATE_APL.exe
Step 2: Download Bysin, extract the zip file contents into a separate dedicated folder.
Step 3: Copy "07Jog2.bin" and "07Touch2.bin" into the "Bysin", "Release" folder, which should already contain "Bysin.exe" and "CECompressedv4.dll".
Step 4: Start a command prompt (Start --> Run, type in "cmd"). Browse to the "Bysin", "Release" folder. Type "bysin 07Jog2.bin extract Opening1.bmp". If you are successful, you will be able to view your system's default welcome screen. (Had to view .bmp with QuickTime viewer)
Step 5: Download 8to16, extract the zip file contents into a separate dedicated folder.
Step 6: Start with your new image, convert as necessary to a final bitmap image, 480 x 234, 256 colors. Save the image file as "new.bmp" under the "8to16", "Release" folder, which should already contain "8to16.exe".
Step 7: Start a new command prompt (Start --> Run, type in "cmd"). Browse to the "8to16", "Release" folder. Type "8to16 new.bmp Opening1.bmp".
Step 8: Move or copy the new "Opening1.bmp" to the "Bysin", "Release" folder.
Step 9: In Bysin's command prompt, type "bysin 07Jog2.bin update Opening1.bmp", also type "bysin 07Touch2.bin update Opening1.bmp".
Original **.BIN files will have to recopied and altered each time**
Step 10: Copy your two new "07*2.bin" files to the folder where you first copied the DVD files, overwrite.
Step 11: Create a new CD, name it the same as the navigation DVD, copy the eight files onto the CD.
Step 12: Follow the steps in How to Reload to complete the installation. Ignore the file list shown on the top of the page, follow the rest of the steps.
I hope this works for you. Please post any additional 2007 Acura TL hacks if you have them.
After loading the DVD you will see either:
Vehicle is out of datbase coverage area
DVD Disc reading error (incorrect DVD Disc)
please consult your dealer.
Press and hold MAP, MENU and CANCEL for about 5 seconds.
Press "Version"
Press "Download"
You'll see the following screen "Please wait. Now downloading software" for about 45 seconds.
About 20 seconds into this screen, it will blink once. "Please do not shut off engine" will display
approx 3 minutes.
The Screen will go blank for a few seconds, then your splash screen will display.
Put the original DVD back into the unit. Screen will display "DVD Disc reading
error (incorrect DVD Disc) please consult your dealer." until the original DVD
is installed.

as per magnus-moss warranty act provides that unless something that has been altered directly caused the end result (damages, etc) then the warranty would be null and void for coverage on/ in that specific incident..
