Getting into the aux input area in the middle compartment

I had a dvd player installed about 4 years, and a flip switch to go from dvd to nav was placed inside of the middle compartment. This switch housing came loose and started to pop out a little bit, and when I popped it back into place, the screen blacked out. How do I get into that space between the cup holders and middle? Do I have to take the seat out? I'm out of warranty on the install so I don't want to pay $100 just to twist a wire back in.
