Factory 2004 dash tweeter grille

I did something stupid and started a jl component install before I read into all the work I had to do and decided not to do it. However I ruined my factory tweeter grilles. I still have the oem tweeters but kneed the clips and the grilles. Can anyone help me out with some parts? It'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

I wonder if the vendors can get these? Id like to pick up some to mount tweeters on instead of hacking up the factory ones

Why is installing a component set a lot of work? No different than an other car.

Give me a day to look but I can give you my brand new ones free+ shipping. I ordered them then realized the Dyns drop almost perfectly in the stock hole and I didn't need them. Not sure where they are but I'll look if you want.

Lemme check with JDA and see if those ID CXS tweets will drop right in.

Since we are discussing speakers, are the door speakers tweeter less or do the highs come from the dash tweeters only?

If they're anything like the CTX tweeters you can easily make a hole in the existing grills and use the hardware to mount them. It's a 5 minute job and looks great. That's what I did with mine and it almost looks factory, not something the passengers would notice. I got a little more clarity with them mounted this way vs under the stock grill. That's the whole reason I bought new ones, because my stock ones had holes in them from the mount.

I did the same thing. I took out the old tweeter, used my dremel to cut out a 2" diameter circle and dropped in the new Polk Audio component tweeter. Looks factory, clean, and ^^ is right...sounds better outside than inside. Tweeters are dirrectional, and therefore you don't want to have any kind of obstructions.

Is it just me...or is the soundstage (w/o processing) mostly on the drivers side with tweeters flat and in factory location? I've been trying them angled and all which ways..I feel like I can't hear the passenger tweeter when its flat in the factory location (pointing at windshield)

The CXS tweeters are larger than the CTX - weighs about 3x as much too. You cannot holesaw for the CXS with the stock tweeter grill because you will have too fragile of a thin rim left.

The CXS fit in the stock hole pretty well, but a piece of HDPE or Starboard would make a nice thin ring. Nobody would every notice but you if you never made a ring to mount them on. You can oftentimes buy scrap HDPE or starboard from a local plastic company for next to nothing.

This depends on the tweeter, of course. I like domes to be angle mounted just a touch off axis, but every taste is different. The higher quality the set, the less you will notice this... but it still might be noticeable.

The balance is the poor-mans processor for this. So is the gain if you bridge an amp. I have also heard of people doing +1 DB on the passenger side... but lots of sets are not that granular for tuning.

In the stock setup, there is a 6.5 inch mid range speaker in the door and a 3/4 or 1 inch tweeter in the dash. Both of these work together to produce 99.6% of the frequency range that our radio produces. Roughly half of the vocals and instruments can/will come from both of the speakers.

There is no tweeter in the door - just the dash. There is no tweeter in the rear speakers either.
