Double din in place of climate screen

I have a 2004 non navi. I want to relocate my climate control screen to where my oem radio is now and install a double din in its place. My question is. Is there enough space behind there to fit a full double din or even a shallow mechless din? So far I'll I've seen people do is put tablets there

I have only seen two setups so far that had aftermarket units in place of Navi screen. I am not sure if it is the same for non-navi as I am not an expert in this. But I am going to provide photos of both the setups.
Most of the people replace the OEM unit with aftermarket double din because that's the easiest way and leave the Nav/Non-navi setup alone.

(1) Pioneer C2500-NEX : I found this on Instagram and this is a modular unit (custom setup).

(2) Alpine ILX-W650 - I just found this photo while browsing reviews on crutchfield. - I really like this unit. I haven't used it but if you see the youtube reviews, it is very fast, responsive and well priced.

Hope this helps!
