DLS Components anyone?

I've searched and only found a few older threads talking about DLS Components. Seems like everyone here is going with Image Dynamics, Infinity or Alpine Type S.

I'm looking to do a mid-budget upgrade, with a goal of SQ. Only one shop in my area carries ID, and I was less than impressed with their demo. I haven't been impressed with the guys in the shop as they wanted to sell me their idea of a good system, instead of working with me on it.

I had Infinity Kappas in my 04 TSX, and they were OK, if not a bit too bright and tinny. The stockies in the TSX seriously sucked, so it was a huge improvement. I've been pretty happy with the stockies in the TL, but lately I am hearing more distortion and experiencing listening fatigue. I really want to upgrade to a more neutral, accurate quality system, incorporating the 5 channels, using a multichannel amp.

I've heard great things about DLS from others elsewhere, but I haven't heard much from TL drivers about their DLS installs. So I'm looking for some opinions on DLS vs. the other options. I'm very interested in them just because I've heard great things, but I might have been misinformed. Anyone have opinions? (Other than the standard stuff that's all over this board?)

I had Infinities and just upgraded to the Image Dynamics ctx65cs and I'm super happy with the SQ and midbass. It's nice having a tweeter that doesn't make you scared when it's about to hit a high note.

I demo'd many, many speakers before the IDs but I have not heard the DLS before. I'm curious too since I have a friend that would gladly take the IDs if I chose to get rid of them. One thing is for sure, many of the recommended speakers around here had tweeters that were too bright for me. The IDs have good detail without hurting the ears.

Take this with a grain of salt, I listened to many but have very little experience otherwise.

I'd like to do front components, center, rears, amp and interface for around $1000 (not incl. install). I realize I won't be getting anything high-end for the price, especially considering all of the pieces involved. But I believe even at that price I should see a drastic improvement over stock.

CSWBiggs, What is it about the DLS that you don't like? I'm looking at the R6A for front and 226 for rear, and Eclipse SE8235 for Center.

Also looking at the AudioControl LC6i for my line driver unit and the Alpine MRA-F350 50x5 channel amp. Comments?

you dont need rears either. I would buy the nicest front pair and amp as that will make the biggest difference.

I installed the DLS Iridium 6.2i in the stock locations. I can't compare to anything other then the ELS system, but I'm very happy with the sound quality. They're detailed, laid-back, much more clarity. All EQ/Amp crossover settings are flat.

I'd like to sit and tune everything properly with the 3Sixty.2 after i rewire/change everything. An active set-up will be done in the spring.

I kept the stock center and rear speakers in place, but i don't use them at all. I also took out the stock sub.

My setup is in my sig.

My 08 has the 5.1 simulation deal, so my center is always used, and the rears provide the ambiance fill. I think I could probably stick with the stock rears but I figure if I'm going to go to the trouble, I might as well get it all done. Otherwise, I'll be ripping into the car again in another few months, buying more stuff, etc. Now if I didn't listen in 5.1 all the time, I would seriously consider just upgrading the front two. But I've done a lot of listening with Pro Logic on and off, and I just like the staging of the 5.1 better (vocals and instruments coming from the front, as it should be.
