Disc - Disc + Buttons

How do these buttons work in a car without Navi?

All they seem to do is select disc 5 and 6, respectively. Is there a way to use them to advance discs sequentially?

Nav or not, its the same. You have to press and hold to get that functionality. A quick press will change you to whichever number disc you pressed; a press and hold will go initiate the action above the number.

How long do you have to hold them? I tried holding one of them down and it just changed to disc 6.

Me too. I don't usually keep more than 1 disc loaded, but I loaded all 6, and tried out the disc- and disc+ buttons, and the same thing happened. If I press disc- I get the #5 disc, and if I press disc+ I get the number 6 disc. No matter how long I hold it in it doesn't change.

If you press the 5 or 6 button when a disc is playing, it does the same thing as when you press any other button-it pauses the disc, and if you hold the button in, it stops the disc.

I still can't figure out what the function of the disc- and disc+ buttons are, since, if you want to select a different disc, you could just press the number button. The only advantage to using the disc- or disc+ buttons, if they worked, would be you would go directly to the next or preceding disc.

If we can't get an answer here, maybe I will move this thread to the Audio/Video forum in a few days and see if someone there knows what is going on.

The + and - button is used for track selection and if you hold it down for a bit longer you can use it to que to a certain part of the track either forward or backward depending on which button you use. Also the + and - button has the same funtion as the one on the steering wheel. Check it out and it should work.......

You are talking about the seek- and seek+ buttons, while we are trying to find out how the disc- and disc+ buttons work.

Now I am really confused. I don't have my manual as it is in the car which is in the bodyshop. However, I could swear there was a section indicating that the disc + and disc - buttons would allow you to select the next or previous numbered discs when the carousel was full. Of course I could never get it to work. Are you telling us that they are simply plus and minus seek buttons for the cassette deck?

As smoore said, and as I checked out, the disc- and disc+ buttons don't do anything when the cassette is playing, and the manual definitely says that pressing these buttons will move you to the preceding or next disc.

BUT THEY DON'T DO THAT

The manual says "To select a different disc when all six positions are loaded, use the preset 5 (disc-) or preset disc (disc+) button. Of course, we all know that if you press either of these buttons when another disc is playing, the changer will change to either 5 or 6, depending on which button you pressed. If the 5 disc is playing, and you press the 5 button, it will pause, and if you hold the button in it will STOP.

So we have to conclude, after testing and trying and reading and writing, that the manual must be in error, we don't know what we are doing, all of our disc players are broken, or all of the above.

It ain't that important, so we don't need to make a federal case out of it, but we do need to be sure of our facts before we make suggestions.

My sister's 2003 Accord EXV6 has the 6-disc in-dash changer as in the TL, but in addition she has an 8 disc changer mounted in the center console(or it can be mounted in the trunk) and the Disc+ and Disc- buttons control the disc selection for the 8disc changer.

If that is the case, why doesn't the TL have hook ups for a dvd changer then?

That makes the most sense of any I have seen so far, but as jamesliu asks, why are there no connections? Maybe they intended to make connections and didn't, or maybe there is a way that we don't know of.

Anyway, bottom line, the manual is wrong the way it is written, because the buttons don't do anything except the 5 or 6 disc. No big deal, but it would have been nice to find out that it worked like the manual said and did something that we didn't know about.
