I doubt you're going to get 6 1/2's to give you decent bass unless you go with components. And those are not cheap.

Anything else you can do for more bass? My doors are fully deadened and sealed. I've run the Infinities, a friend's high end JL audio components, and now the ID CTX65 components. The IDs have the most bass so far but my cheap rental car that I'm driving has much more bass, so does the girlfriend's Murano with the base audio system. I've tried enough speakers to rule that out. I get a fair amount of excursion from the mids so I'm thinking cancellation.

I should mention the Infinities are now in the Murano and they have twice the bass they did in the TL.

Yep, MDF ring. I have a JL 6-channel amp with 75 watts rms. I've even tried running them with with the crossover at 50hz and no difference. Bass on the stock headunit is maxed out.

Stock in the rears because I usually have them off. So, assuming I have 200watts rms (bridged to 3 channels, I believe this amp puts out in the neighborhood of 200watts), I don't want to crank it to insane levels to get decent midbass.

I think it's more of an installation issue since the Infinities sound so much better in the Murano than the TL.

This may be a longshot but try checking the polarity on your speaker connections.
