Cool Custom trunk setup? Custom sounds? PICS??

Anyone have any pics of their ride or anyone elses ride with custom trunk set up. Trying to get good ideas for my trunk
Currently have a JL W6 13.5 and two amps, so ill be getting a custom box built and have room for my spare tire also while mounting my amps nicely.
Trying to get a nice car show set up.

That is BADASS! Nicely done man. Did this yourself or a shop?
Do you know what type of wood they used throughout the trunk? Not including the box..

Yes. I did it all myself, but I'm a manager for a shop. I have about 15 yrs in the industry.

5/6 of the box is 3/4" MDF. Front panel is 3/4" acrylic. There is no other wood used in the entire car, including amp rack, kick panels, or trim panels. The trunk trim panels (including the floor) are all made from fiberglass and then carpeted or vinyl-ed. The side panels in the trunk are re-carpeted OEM ones. All the equipment racks are either aluminum or steel.

They are 8" W7-AEs down firing. The amps are (3) JL HD600/4s.

That is badass man good shit!!! I would love a fiberglass floor, trying to get my set up custom and nice like yours. Also trying to go the "lightest" route so not as heavy as it usually is, but still nice and performs good

The lighting with the little copper pipes. Nice touch.
Where do you get matching oem carpet?

^^^I thought the same thing. Both subtle, clean touches that just add to the overall build.

Thanks.

The carpet as actually just a standard carpet I got from a local upholstery supply place. The trick is, I re-covered all of the oem panels that I used so it matched.

The copper is actually copper tube (due to more surface area than solid pipe) that I made a jig for and bent to the shape I needed. I then hand polished them to get them shiny and put a gloss clearcoat over them save the last .5" on either end. Didn't want to go to all the trouble and then have them tarnish.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I wanted it to be something understated yet very custom. I really tried to pay attention to design cues form inside the car and carry them to the trunk. The red rings around the subs are painted acrylic and hide the mounting holes for the subs. The idea was to mimic the three red rings that encircle the gauges on the Type-S. And the "Acura" panel is perforated gray vinyl surrounded by black vinyl to mimic the seats. I tried to make it as practical and serviceable as possible.

Thanks man! Truth be told, I stole the idea from a guy that used copper tube for his x-over connections. They were just about 2" long 90 degree pieces though. I haven't seen them wrapped over magnets before. Just didn't like the idea of wire laying inside the box.

Can I ask how you wrapped the factory side pieces where it comes out really far for the trunk hinge when it closes? Did you do it all one piece or 2 pieces? I can't imagine carpet stretching that much to do it in 1 piece.

I did them both in 1 piece. The driver's side sucked to do. Behind the panel on the box though, I cut most of the stock material away so I didn't have to deal with the complex curve over the wheel well. On the passenger's side I had cut a majority of it away for the amp rack so that one wasn't bad. I just started in the deepest part of the well and started working toward the edges. The carpet I used was un-backed and stretched really well.

after seeing that im ashamed to show the set up i had in my tl.
i am working on a new setup. im trying to get my hands on a 12w7 right now. i built the box kinda fast and never finished the beauty panels, due to the fact i was planing on upgrading. but here is my little setup. also this is my first box that i ever built. it was a learning experience for sure. im not use to working with wood. i work in a machine shop with metal and cnc machines. i was in a new world to say the lest.

i had everything but the kenwood amps from my last car. i have recently bought a jl hd900/5 im just waiting to put it in till i get my hands on a 12w7.

@rhdstinky, nice setup bro. what gauge wire are you using on the jl amp?..also do you have all three amps individually going to the battery or do you have like a 0 gauge wire going to a splitter?...also, are you going to be selling that jl amp soon and how do you like it?

thanks man. i think i have 8 gauge goin to all thee amps. i have 2 gauge coming from the battery with a circuit breaker about 8in from the battery. i have an older monster splitter that lets the 2 gauge branch off to 4, 8 gauge outs. and yes i am going to be selling the amp but it is pretty much already sold to a guy that i work with. im almost making what i payed for it off him. lol.

Tweeters and Midbass are install and the MB will come out of the inside of the door. I'll be doing a sealed box or a better aimed baffle into the cabin for the MB. Midrange is either going in the A-Pillars or Kicks. My wish is to put them in the dash firing back into the cabin, But spending another 3g isn't on my list for just the MR.

Nice! MB is good quality. Cant wait to see it finished. How hard was it to change out the tweeters and make it clean? do you have a build thread?

Nice setups, I bought my tl a little over a month ago, I'm currently working on a enclosure for my 2 Sundown woofers not sure wether to do bandpass or just go with a ported setup, running 2 Rockford amps, 2 Sundown Audio SA8V2D4's, Infinity Kappa Components, and a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS which was not a very fun install but well worth it
