Time for a new amp.. any suggestions?

Okay so after having my Kenwood KAC-9105D for about 2 years now it finally has decided to start crapping out and its time for a replacement... I had it in my tl powering a JL Audio 12'' W7-AE but was having some issues and my installer said that he didn't want to hook it back up and run the risk of blowing my w7...(when he hooked it up to his test sub it completely fried it ) lucky for me i had a warranty on the amp covered by a credit card so they will pay for a replacement or to have it fixed.. so my question for all of you audiophiles is what amp should i get next? or should i just have my Kenwood repaired?

ive been looking at the JL HD750/1 and the JL 1000/1 but i dont really know any other options and am kinda stuck. and I've been looking on craigslist and ebay mostly because i cant justify spending 600-1000 on something like that

Any help would be much appreciated guys

For a 12w7 I'd go HD750/1.

do you think that would be enough to push it? my installer mentioned that one but said the amp wouldn't be maximizing the potential of the sub

Your front stage is stock? If so thats plenty as its overpowering the rest of the system anyway.

I would say the 600/1 is more than adequate, as the front stage will be overpowered quickly

how many ohms is the sub? i would suggest a Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D, great amp, small in size, more than enough power to pump out for that JL sub, great price too compared to jl's hd series, just check the ohm rating on your w7, jl subs are kinda easy to blow

Pretty sure I don't want to go down this road, but....

And for a 12w7, you want 750 watts RMS @ 3 ohm. The HD750/1 is perfect for it. Is it expensive? Yes. Just like most products that are engineered extremely well and manufactured with exacting specs and meticulous quality control. And seriously, you are complaining about the price of an amp to drive your one of the most expensive 12" subs on the market?

It's like a S Class driver complaining about the price of Michelins.

I get that and I hope I didn't come off as an ass, I just found irony in the whole concept.

Thanks for the compliment, it was a fair amount of work.
