Car alarm that sends SMS

Anyone tried this car alarm on their TL? It's an alarm that sends SMS to your SE phone using GSM.

The pager alarms are cheaper but how is the range? GSM range is good. Just be sure where you park has service.

Ah...One MAJOR problem. Doesn't the phone HAVE to be in the car at the time? I mean, the CAR itself doesn't have a phone in it so it has no way of sending any type of message, much less and SMS text. It's not like any of us lactually "Leave the phone in the car" when we get out, is it?

Ah...You didn't read the website

"The second option includes an external GSM module. This package is slightly more expensive, but, it saves you the trouble to purchase an additional Sony Ericsson mobile phone. The price of this is USD249."

I don't think it's worth it just to tell the thief that you sent yourself an SMS before he steals something or does damage.

you could get lojack early warning which tries to contact you up 5 different ways. they could call your cell phone or even e-mail you if your car is ever moved or towed

I actually "tried" to edit this before posting but got interrupted by a 5 year old pushing buttons. I did see the ericsson but the $250 price tag seemed a little "extreme" considering without the phone it was $99. Then there's service cell service that would be needed (with text messaging options)... Just not worth it IMHO.
